There is broadcast and cable -but no other source for the individual to have their voice heard
I find it difficult to fathom a smart guy like you can deny SM is the new public square

Social media is neither broadcast or cable and we have access to thousands of platforms other than Twitter or Facebook. Maybe Trump should come on Just Plain Politics. I read news stories every day about Trump or statements he made. I know about all his endorsements for the primary (Dr. Oz, etc.), what he said about not returning to Twitter as it relates to Musk, his statement from his office when he mad a hole-in-one, his support for McCarthy, etc.
You must not be following the news.
The thread and most of the posts are about Twitter--not Zelensky, Disney, or any fake "war on children"
Can't Trump post on Truth if he wants to get out any messages that he can't get out on other platforms?
Gettr, Palor, Truth Social all available to him, but he’d have to learn a new system in order to post and that’s hard for some Seniors.
He should have no problem, after all he passed the test, person, woman, man, camera…
Trump has no problem with the media covering anything he has to say. People just want to complain about Twitter and Facebook discriminating against their guy. They seem to have the attitude that if he can't post on those two sources then he has no free speech.
I see scant coverage of some of his actions -few of his words

Social media is the new public square -not a message board with a closed user set of like 50 people like here .You can post all day long here and the same 50 people will see it
Put something on Twitter or FB and your views can go worldwide
there are a couple of such platforms.
they are all run by oligarchs with uneven and politicized TOS/enforcement sanctions
Musk is promising something different, Open and free speech,and not shutting down "misinformation"
( one person's misinformation is the other persons truth - let the marketplace of ideas decide)
This is the american way everyone gets to speak, everyone decides for themselves what to listen to

And to be clear i'd feel the same if it was Biden or Clinton or any other Ne'er-do-well.
Ideas have to be able to be heard -which is what the public square does -allow one voice access to millions of others

Everyone in America already gets to speak and decide themselves. To think they have a right to speak on Twitter or Facebook is entitlement at its worst.
If Musk gets control and wants to change the policies, then he has the freedom to do so. Anybody wanting government policies to force them to change those policies doesn't understand freedom.
If you see scant coverage of Trump's words or actions, check Google where there are 870,000,000 stories available. I think you have been limiting your news sources.
Just yesterday a judge issued contempt of court order against him and his spokespeople did not respond to requests for comments. That would have been a good time to get his message to the public.

I heard today there are some 230 million people/users on Twitter. I don't know the number for Facebook but a billion or so? So while there are other sites and sources out there, nothing comes even close to having the reach those two sites do.
But yeah, regarding Trump specifically he's in the news on almost a daily basis and people can't stop talking about him. Him not having access to Twitter and Facebook doesn't help but as an ex-President he's not unable to get his message out. (Doesn't he still do campaign speeches which get covered by the media and end up on Twitter and Facebook anyway after people post the content?)
To me it misses the bigger picture when the focus is just on Trump. He's the shiny object but the discussion is about far bigger than him.
Why can't his ideas be heard on Facebook? He has an "official" Facebook page.

Trump ran two presidential elections and had no problem with media attention and getting his message across. In 2016 he spent little on ads and had media coverage of almost anything he said.
Odd that people are worried about the "truth" being told when they are trying to push stories on election fraud, FBI inciting the January 6 attacks, Obama being born in Africa, Cruz's father being involved in the JFK assassination, and other stories with no validity.
