Macron beats far-right rival Le Pen in French presidential election,

Thankfully the French did the right thing

Jean-Marie Le Pen has a history of Holocaust denial and making other antisemitic comments, as well as xenophobic remarks against other minority groups in France, especially Muslims.

What's interesting is Macron had nearly exact same job approval rating as President Biden does today and Macron just won 58% of the vote.

Sometimes voters vote AGAINST the other candidate/party rather than the candidate/party they vote FOR.

At this point in time, her embrace of Putin is not what the nation wanted. Macron suffered because of his necessary Covid policies. Thankfully, that's in the rearview mirror.

Polls mean nothing now. People purposely lie on the questions to skew polling.

La Penn, Trump, and Putin seem way too much alike.

La Penn was promising to end French partnership with NATO and steer France to a more pro-Putin posture.

NATO, and Ukraine, would be totally f*cked in alternate universe where Trump and La Penn won their respective elections.

Macron had major problems before the pandemic. Remember the gilets jaunes?

But as he had no serious challenger in this election except a semi-reformed fascist, he's back again.

That's some recommendation.

Thanks. I do remember the protests, but I thought it was Covid. It was the fuel tax.

Add Britain's Johnson to that list.

Brexit seems to have kicked him in the ass these days.

Le Pen and Trump - that list?

Johnson is the strongest supporter Ukraine has in Europe, and it isn't just talk. He is currently providing the most advanced antiaircraft missiles.

On another thread someone said Johnson was risking London being nuked. I said Putin would have to be crazy - Britain has hundreds of nukes that could hit Russia.

I just hope Putin isn't that crazy.

Blind squirrel, as it were. On Ukraine, Johnson is on the correct side.
