bill stripping Disney of self governing status goes to Governor for signing

It also has 16 Community Development Districts; according to Florida statutes, the CDDs “main powers are to plan, finance, construct, operate and maintain community-wide infrastructure and services specifically for the benefit of its residents.” And, as with other government entities (like cities and counties), they’re able to obtain financing at lower, tax-exempt, interest rates. Although unincorporated, it is considered a census-designated metropolitan area.

So why is DeSantis just signaling out Disney, doesn't the Villages have similar arrangements

I agree. Let them hit the road.
agree 100%
we dont need them. Florida is booming - we got zilions of people that come here and never go to Disney

And Orlando where I live is unbelievably crowded now - plus all the illegals that get dumped here by Biden
Now if DeSantis would just STFU and stop telling the freaking world to move here

Rush hour starts at 3:30 now and end after 7..
Disney can go and take the mobs of tourists with them
Wont even miss them

You got to be kidding me, a major part of Florida's economy is based upon tourism, and Disney is the number one tourist attraction in the State, in fact, if not first, second or third in the U.S.. Without those dollars Florida loses all those taxes and excise fees the tourist pays which fund a great deal of Florida's budget

Orlando has always been crowded, also perfect example of piss poor urban planning, what are they up to now, seven lanes on the interstate, without Disney Central Florida would evolve back into swamp land

50 million visitors a year. Losing Disney would hurt FL immensely.

we have a paid beltway like other cities. Toll roads are a godsend - I dont use them -i dont pay for them
We can't build a subway - it's a swamp. I am near Seaworld, then there is Universal, then the beaches
then the Convention centers - we would be fine if Disney left
Housing is just booming.

Disney is just another player. They are pro-China and get much more revenue now from streaming and th various parks worldwide ( new one in Shanghai)
If they wanna be woke -take that crap elsewhere.

I just dont want to pay for their shit -all I care about

Why do you care?

I have been told that that you are a Russian.

Who really gives a flying fuck what Disney or Florida does?

They could both fall off into the ocean and I would not miss them.

So what is all the Republican hype about here- All this beating your chests like you just made some kind of political gain?

Next Whoopty Do thread please!

Republicans going after Goofy and Micky Mouse!

WTF is next?

No - but just countering the point that losing Disney would be no big deal for FL.
I dont think it would be.It would be a shock.but we would do fine. Florida has so much going for it.
~~

even the Tourist Development Taxes (TDTs) generated cant be used for general revenue
- it has to be plowed back into advertising...for more tourists..I think that is slowly changing though

You "don't think" it would be? 50 million visitors?

At minimum, it would be devastating to many businesses in Orlando. It's sort of typical self-centered conservatism to minimize the impact and express support for it just because Disney is "woke," without considering the negative impact for many.
