If you thought Florida couldn’t get any wackier,

Who else here has looked at any of the textbooks Florida rejected? Have you? Nope. So, who?

If me and Taichiliberal don't want to bother, then why are we here in this thread trying to find evidence and examples? I have been looking and looking. So far zero example.

”Florida rejects 54 math books, claiming critical race theory appeared in some.”

“The Florida education department has rejected 54 mathematics textbooks for its K-12 curriculum, citing reasons spanning the inclusion of critical race theory to Common Core learning concepts.”

“The rejected books make up a record 41% of the 132 books submitted for review, the Florida Department of Education said in a statement.”

“Of them, 28 were rejected because they "incorporate prohibited topics or unsolicited strategies, including [critical race theory]," the statement said.”

Love to see how one uses mathematics to teach CRT, maybe referring to select numbers as Prime designates class, especially if you write them using black ink. Don’t tell me making those denominators always on the bottom isn’t Marxists.

DeSantis just can’t help himself, attempting to portray himself as Trump lite, he has to insert all the right catch phrases and dog whistles in everything he says and does, in fact, nearly everything he does is centered upon the same theme

Well for wacked head idiots to vote against their own interests in Florida for repuke swine who would prefer they all go to hell at squandering their taxpayer money too, expect FloriDUH to get more wackier.

Okay, I found another one I could look at that was rejected. This one is by McGraw-Hill called Reveal Math and is for 5th grade. According to the table on why it was banned it included "Special Topics." From what I can gather this means this book was nixed on two grounds:

First, it contains Common Core pedagogy in it. Second, it has unrelated social content in the form of the little boxes labeled "Math is" which have nothing to do with actual math but rather ask students things like how they feel about a lesson and the like. I didn't see anything that could be labeled CRT in this one.

If you look at the Teacher version here:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/ecommerce-...-math/reveal-math-te-grade-3-unit-sampler.pdf

The social / emotional learning portion becomes obvious. There is also a language objective in each lesson unrelated to math.

I'd add that the supposed STEM content is utterly worthless, but I don't think the state was scoring on that...

Wouldn't it be easier to ask DeSantis and his minions for examples? Oh wait they did ask.

It might, but it's best to look for yourself in a case like this. By the way, that McGraw-Hill textbook is on the whole really shitty. I can see why today's students can't do math if that's what they're getting for instruction...

Like I said, millions of people and yet no examples of CRT.

And yeah I know there are shitty textbooks. They are always pruned.

It's kind of hard to make much intelligent comment on this w/o knowing what they found objectionable. Some of the people illustrated doing math were not white? Some of the illustrations showed a black child solving a math problem while a white child looked confused? Some of the teachers illustrated were not white or female?

Here is a list of the textbooks from another source:

Apparently Desantis & Co. have not been able to show any CRT horrors in any of the banned Florida text books, despite being asked repeatedly to show examples. It sounds to me like Desantis was just fake posturing for the MAGA morons and some algebra textbooks got caught in the crossfire

Agreed...which might explain why DeSantis, et al, are trying to shift the conversation to banning gays.

Really? There was no, if gay Johnny had five apples and gave cis Johnny two apples to have sex with him, how many apples would cis Johnny have to become gay?

MAGA doesn't have any principled positions of public policy, and the MAGA base is actually stupid enough to think attacking algebra textbooks is a form of legitimate good governance.

MAGA is a disease that feeds on fear, division and hatred....which is why they are more in league with Satan than Jesus.
