A January 6 rioter who claimed he was following "presidential orders" when he stormed the US Capitol was found guilty on all charges by a jury in Washington, DC.
Dustin Thompson, a 38-year-old exterminator from Ohio, faced six charges -- obstructing an official proceeding, theft of government property, illegally entering the Capitol, illegally protesting in the Capitol, and two counts of disorderly conduct in the Capitol.
Thompson's lawyer told the jury Trump was an "evil and sinister man" who had incited the riot with his incendiary speech at the Ellipse, where he told his supporters to march to the Capitol and "fight like hell."
Prosecutors ridiculed this idea, arguing that Thompson is an adult capable of making his own decisions
As the judge sent Thompson immediately to jail pending sentencing, Walton said, "You make your bed, you lie in it." Thompson then took off his tie, belt and jacket, and was handcuffed behind his back by a deputy US marshal and escorted out of the courtroom and to a jail cell.
The most severe charge that Thompson was convicted of -- obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony -- carries up to 20 years in prison

One problem with indicting Trump may be the absence or near absence of an untainted jury pool. Everyone seems to have an opinion about the lawless scumbag, either that he's a great man or a lawless scumbag. Finding twelve people with the ordinary mental capacity to serve as jurors may not be feasible.

this guy will get some time. Guilty of all charges and one of them carries 20 yr sentence while the judge who told him "you made your bed now sleep in it"? If he gets less than 10 yrs I would be surprised.

U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton sentenced Johnson to 75 days in prison followed by one year of supervised release. The judge also ordered Johnson to pay a $5,000 fine and perform 200 hours of community service. Johnson will report to prison at a date to be determined.

Unfortunately, I strongly doubt Trump will go to prison. OTOH, breaking him financially is highly likely.

IMO, he'll end up banished to live at Mar-a-Lago under quasi house arrest with very little money remaining to commit mayhem. Like Alex Jones, he'll suffer in civil court for all the harm he as caused to Americans. Yes, even the terrorist nutjob Ashli Babbitt who was only following Trump's orders.
