The Obit Ted Kennedy Deserves

Now why is it wrong for people who work together to have a BBQ together?

This line suggests that Mary Joe was there to pleasure Kennedy.

IT SMEARS HER CHARACTER!

No, it is attacking Ted Kennedy's character not Mary Jo's.

That is bullshit and you full well know it.

Remember they were Liberal democrats and unmarried women hangin out with powerful men.

To pretend its not a smear on the women is real fucking dishonest

All of these people worked together.

They had run a campaign together.

To suggest the only reason the women were there was to be prey for the men is a completet insult to the all the work these professional women had done for years.

The other 5 women there were treated like whores for 40 years by the republican who cared about nothing but political gain.

so now we can just stop talking about mary jo and let the dems write kennedy's history in a very, very glowing picture, with maybe, just maybe a FN about mary jo?

what bothers me is that most dems want to stop talking about mary jo and instead talk about only his supposed greatness as a politician....these same people who can't help but mention bush in the negative for just about anything in justifying what a dem did....

Mary Jo, Mary Jo.

You didn’t even know her name four days ago, until you started obsessively reading NewsMax and Rushlimbaugh.com to fuel your hatred of Kennedy. It’s actually pretty pathetic for you to keep posting about her, like she was some sort of personal crusade for you. You are very creepy for using a person who's been dead for 40 years for message board trolling.

No one has ever said Kennedy didn’t’ fuck up that night. Obviously, his irresponsible driving killed some one. Chapdog and Cawacko summed it up nicely. He’s not a murderer, and he wasn’t a criminal. I can’t speak for the man, but I don’t have any doubt he carried that guilt around with him his whole life.

Desh is right. You wingnuts are obsessed with an event that happened half a century ago, before most of you were even born. I remember having a rightwinger on this board follow me around when I made fun of Bush or McCain, demanding that I mention “chappaquidick” in the interest of fairness and to prove I wasn’t a partisan.

The man made a mistake and fucked up, and I bet he wishes he could have that night back. But, he spent his whole life in public service, and he didn’t use his political position to enrich or protect the powerful. He wasn’t perfect, but he is to be admired for placing equality, social justice, and the interests of working people above the interests of wealth and plutocracy.

And chapdog is right. Kennedy doesn’t have blood on his hands, for america’s fucked up wars on Central America and Iraq. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people would be alive today, if Kennedy’s example had been followed.

ummm, so how about all those insults about Sarah Palin?

such ignorance....i don't read those news sources....and i did know who she was....

fact is....both sides are obsessively (your word) talking about kennedy....the left wants to only talk about his supposed greatness and the right wants people not to forget about mary jo and to highlight that kennedy is the demi-god most liberals are making him out to be....

it is the height of hypocrisy to criticize someone talking about mary jo and then say nothing to those who are constantly talking about his greatness....

i've had several libs criticize me and others for bringing her up....and several libs have brought up laura bush, george bush as having killed people, as if this makes mary jo's death less significant and IMO, it basically is saying....look, they did it to, so its ok....

i don't understand how it is ok to focus only on his "good deeds" but not ok to focus on his "bad deeds"....

No, what some are criticizing you for is that you feel the need to beat this drum over and over and over so soon after the man's death.

Remember when everyone used to practice a little civility when it came to the recently deceased?

Why you couldn't wait even a FEW DAYS is beyond me. But hey, if you gotta take Sen Kennedy apart before the body even gets cold, be my guest.

"i've had several libs criticize me and others for bringing her up"

I haven't really seen that.

I HAVE seen libs criiticize you for obsessing over it, and posting her picture over a dozen times, in quite a few different threads about Kennedy.

It's not like Chappaquiddick wasn't being pretty thoroughly discussed on the board, anyway. I have seen MUCH more talk about that, than about anything related to Kennedy's career in the Senate. There are a few notable exceptions, like Jarod's "hero" post, but overall, it's been all Mary Jo, all the time.

you haven't seen it....then you say exactly what i claimed happened....you call it obsessing....yet those who create threads about his greatness are not obsessing, those who repeatedly make posts about his greatness are not obsessing.....

the very epitome of hypocrisy....

You're only talking about essentially 2 posters.

Most of the lefties on here have been very involved in the discussions on Chappaquidick, which are ubiquitous on the board.

The double-standard here - if you're policing things right now - is with conservatives. No leftie in their right mind (no pun there) thinks anyone will forget about Chappaquidick. Like I have said repeatedly, it will forever be tied to his name.

again the hypocrisy......

so apparently when someone kills someone....we can only mention their supposed good deeds until a few days.....after their death....

i never said all.....

onceler...how is it not hypocrisy? how are the conservatives being hypocritical? it is clear that it is ok to repeatedly talk about his good deeds, but it is bad to repeatedly talk about his bad deeds......that is hypocrisy

There haven't been a huge # of posts about his "greatness"; on the ones I can think of, you usually post a picture of Mary Jo, and the conversation turns to Chappaquiddick.

I have said that Kennedy is no hero, and that I don't really like the guy or wish to defend him. I have called him arrogant & a drunk. Yet I'm the "epitome of hypocrisy" somehow.

yet they have no problem bring up Laura Bush even though she was never a elected government official..

so you argument is the numbers? and your argument is that when someone posts or creates a thread about his greatness or good deeds i usually post a picture and the conversation turns....and this somehow negates the hypocrisy that i am obsessive, yet those who create posts or threads about his goodness are not......bizarre, especially given you admit that mine are in response.....

and if you look at the reply posts to mine....you will see numerous people criticizing conservatives like laura bush....yet somehow that is ok....it is ok to frequently cite laura bush....but i'm obsessive for mentioning mary jo.....
