And he lets the industry sell radar detectors too - their only purpose is to enable more speeding murders. There is no industry as irresponsible as the auto industry but pedo joe says cool.

april 11 2022 President Biden emphasized on Monday while announcing his new controls on so-called “ghost guns” that acquiring gun makers’ internal documents is crucial to scrutinizing said makers’ marketing of “deadly products.”

Biden segued from so-called “ghost guns” and pushed for other gun controls, then praised the Sandy Hook Elementary School families who sued Remington over the December 14, 2012, Sandy Hook shooting.

The gun used in the Sandy Hook was a stolen Bushmaster rifle, and Bushmaster was owned by Remington at the time.

Biden noted, “Remington agreed to release thousands of pages of internal documents,” as part of the settlement with the Sandy Hook families.

He then said, “Here’s why it’s so important: Remember, it wasn’t until we saw the internal documents that we really understood what cigarette manufacturers were doing to our kids and to our families. Now, we may begin to see what gun manufacturers are and are not doing when it comes to making and marketing their deadly products.”

I agree that we need more restrictions on vehicles, which is why I propose that every vehicle sold in America from now on be equipped with a GPS tracker that monitors for speed. If a vehicle drives over the posted speed limit for longer than ten seconds, the vehicle's owner will be fined and/or lose their license for life.

People rarely obey speed limits. The speed limit on the road to my job is 45. I do 45 and assholes still ride my ass. (And it's usually some MFer asshole in a dually or a Karen in an SUV who thinks they're more important then everyone else.)

Of course people speed and it's because the penalties are so light. Rich people esp are not going to slow down because of a $200 fine. If speeders lost their license for a few months, we would have compliance.

I'm talking about civies owning AK47s and shit like that. I have no problem with someone owing one pistol for self-defense. But nobody needs to play soldier, and if they do, they should think about enlisting, not LARPing in cammies with rifles slung over their shoulders.

Oh, and if you still believe in the 2A -- that an armed populace protects against government tyranny -- then you're delusional. We have many instances in US and world history where armed populace failed to stop tyranny. Look no further than the internment camps of WW2, or President Adams (a founding father, no less) imprisoning ournalists who spoke poorly of himself or Congress, or Saddam Hussein's Iraq, where, despite everyone being armed, the government still managed to terrorize people for years. Likewise, the Arab Spring is a perfect example of a tyrannical regime being toppled without one single gun owner being present.

So if we know from history that "an armed populace" is useless for stopping or preventing government tyranny, then the only good a gun can possibly provide is self-defense. If we can outlaw everything except pistols (and certain rifles in specific, highly regulated situations), and limit pistol ownership to one per person, then we would have a safer society. Gun control works wonderfully elsewhere in the developed world, so it stands to reason that it would work well here, too.

Wow. Something we can agree on. A speeding ticket should be a percentage of someone's income, and if they have no income, then their net worth. Maybe 5% for a first offense, 10% for a second offense, permanent suspension for the third.

Many people have suggested that but it's tough to prove income and net worth. I'd rather see automatic license suspensions and it should vary with the weight of the vehicle. A speeding semi with 30 tons of freight is a bigger menace than an ordinary one ton car doing the same.

It's the fundamental job of the govt to protect citizens. Speeders and red light runners are killers. Catching deadly criminals like them is exactly what governments are for.
