The response to the event has been intense. Tickets were quickly snapped up, with nearly 500 people on a standby list to get one. Some posters for the event were defaced, and others mocking it were taped up.

An editorial in a campus newspaper said the university should not give a platform to Pence, equating “hateful rhetoric” to violence. That sparked outrage over “cancel culture,” limits on free speech and concerns about censorship.

You shouldn't either. Liberals are evil.

Helluva thing, ain't it?
The reason seems very rational to me, if you allow these shirts, then what next?

"The concerns about the warmups are not related to student speech as the team members did not initiate the discussion or purchase the shirts. The role of the School Board is to implement our policies in an unbiased way. Staff-led activism is a topic our Board has been discussing throughout the year, including flags, posters, and clothing that show support for specific groups or issues. It is not permissible for school-issued, staff-sponsored apparel to promote specific causes, groups, or beliefs."

:palm: Students do not have free speech? When do constitutional rights kick in? Are liberals seasoning the young for a takeover to fry this great country? Are you?

I'd like to know what's wrong with the shirts...and "what's next"? ;) I guess we should ban Joe...He's apparently setting a horrible example for our young people....
"“Pray for Peace is not a religious statement that requires separation of church and state,” she wrote on Facebook. “It is one that all presidents in power, regardless of political party, reference on a regular basis.”

In February, President Biden announced that both he and the First Lady were praying for the “brave and proud people of Ukraine.”

“The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering,” the president said. “Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable,” the president said.

Not only did President Biden violate the school board’s edict on prayers, he also took sides in the war."

this kind of bullshit isn't any different than watching local cops go around their town/city and shutting down a childs lemonade stand because they didn't buy a business permit...........but when that lemonade stand is giving all of it's proceeds to the local police agency for equipment or a dog or families of those KIA.........then it's ok to look the other way

It is different, apples and oranges, for the record, I don’t agree with shutting down kids lemonade stands, unless the product is making people ill.

it is exactly apples and apples. it's using ones authority to shut down something they don't like or agree with while turning a blind eye and supporting something that they DO agree with.

Colleges should never stop a speaker. They are presumably intelligent people who can resist propaganda. They can learn other viewpoints and widen their information base.

You've never seen some of the music shirts they wear to school? HSers aren't to have a positive expression of hope for peace? Your morals are all fucked up.

Pence is expected to speak at the university on Tuesday as part of a national tour on college campuses sponsored by the Young America’s Foundation.

At earlier stops, according to news reports, he has hailed the work of the Trump administration, while also decrying President Biden and what Pence called an “all-encompassing assault on culture and values” by the “woke left.” His appearances have drawn some protests.

Why are universities supposed to help a politician campaign for an election?
