DeSantis broaches repeal of Disney World's special self-governing status in Florida

They systematically impose a systemic racist phallocratic doctrine over everybody's booty.

Yeah I can see a MAGA daddy explaining it to his childrein: "You see they are faggots who are abominations in eyes of God. They deserve no pity from us and should be shunned and killed. Don't you dare become a queer or I'll beat your ass good."

I see you've met a few Floridian DeSantis voters.

Just to be correct you didn't ask you attacked. Would you agree that if Disney decided to fight the Florida DUI laws the governor would be correct in wanting to pull their self governing perk? Just because you dislike DeSantis doesn't mean he is automatically wrong.

The question mark indicated a question but I admit the sentence was provocative so I've changed it.

Why is Disney restricted from doing anything that other towns, people or corporations are not?

TBH, I'm not sure about the limits of the "self-governing" perk. I thought it was the same as a corporate town. Florida had the chance to alter that "self-governing perk" since 1967. Why is DeSantis the only one who has a fucking problem with it and why? You and I both know why.

Not a lawyer, but I doubt DeSantis can rule Florida by fiat: https://www.rcid.org/about/

In the mid-1960s, the Walt Disney World Company proposed building a recreation-oriented development on 25,000 acres of property in Central Florida. The property sat in a remote area of Orange and Osceola County, so secluded that the nearest power and water lines were 10-15 miles away. Neither Orange nor Osceola County had the services or the resources needed to bring the project to life.

In 1967 the Florida State legislature, working with Walt Disney World Company, created a special taxing district – called the Reedy Creek Improvement District – that would act with the same authority and responsibility as a county government.

Walt Disney World could then move ahead with its vision to turn 38.5 square miles of largely uninhabited pasture and swamp land, into a global destination resort that welcomes millions of visitors every year.

The new legislation said that landowners within the Reedy Creek Improvement District, primarily Walt Disney World, would be solely responsible for paying the cost of providing typical municipal services like power, water, roads, fire protection etc.

Local taxpayers, meaning residents of Orange and Osceola County, would not have to pay for building or maintaining those services.

The cooperation and commitment between the Reedy Creek Improvement District and Walt Disney World Company is as strong today as it was when the District was created in 1967. The result is an example of how a working partnership between business and government can be prosperous for both sides.

Reedy Creek Improvement District BY NUMBERS
  • 134 miles of roadways and 67 miles of waterways built and maintained
  • 250,000 daily guests
  • 6-8 minute response time for fire and EMS
  • 60,000 tons of waste managed
  • 30 tons of aluminum, paper, steel cans, cardboard and plastic containers recycled every year
  • 22,800 water samples collected by RCID scientists from 1,500 locations on the property for testing every year
  • 90,000 analyses conducted to make sure that water quality meets or exceeds state and national standards. Water draining from the south end of the District is generally cleaner than when it entered Reedy Creek at its north end.
  • 2,000 vendors, suppliers and contractors used to provide a high level of public services for visitors

The problem isnt Reedy Creek Improvement - it's worked well enough and having Disney take care of Disney means the rest of us dont have to pay for their waste disposal etc.

The problem is Disney never said a fucking word when this was in the Florida House being debated
It only became an "issue" when the California Wokesters distorted the parental guidance
and age appropriate law into "dont say gay" ( which is a lie itself)

Corps have these woke boards. they interject their PC agenda into management - because they have the power
Management runs terrified they are going to get targeted. Plus there is that whole virtue signaling going on

The law is wildly popular in Florida - even a majority of Dems support it!
