Disney World has an incredible amount of special treatment here in Florida. I feel sure what I know about it only scratches the surface. They have a special sales tax district, they get tax cuts. They have their own incredibly relaxed building code and their own building inspection district. IN Florida we have the Norther Building Code, thee Central Building Code the Southern Building Code.... and then the "Reedy Creek Development District".
There are many other very special treatment measures Disney gets.
I have always felt this was absurd and corrupt. Most of it was established in the 1960's when Walt Disney was bribing public officials right and left.
I have been an advocate for changing it for decades.
Now, all the sudden, because Disney does not support some of his politics, Governor DeSantis is threatening to remove their special treatment.
I like that idea, but shouldn't we be very concerned that the Governor only wants to do this out of revenge and political gamesmanship? Do we want to accept this mafia style of governance? Your special treatment is okay unless you disagree with me?
