CIA Releases Documents Fmr. Vice President Cheney Requested Be Made Public

I guess they wouldn't be in prison if they didn't torture anybody, as PMP alleges.

well, let's see...
1. I have said my definition of torture includes causing harm.
2. They killed him.
~ I think we can conclude that would fall within my definition of "torture"

I asked if making a man stand on a box with a bag over his head was torture....I didn't ask if killing a man was torture...(though I will note that chaining a man with his hands over his head isn't an act you would naturally assume would cause death)....

I will stand behind the fact that neither the photo of the man on the box or your photo of a corpse was in fact evidence of torture....

The photo of the man standing on the box with wires coming off his arms and going to the electrical conduits would certainly warrant a serious investigation.

If you wanted to determine who was tortured and who was not.

that's nice....not what the debate was about....but that's nice....ibbie had submitted the photo as PROOF of torture....that's why I asked him what I did......

We obviously were, and you weren't. LOL

I am sure you knew that Charver was being sarcastic. Thats why you answered with "When did that ever happen in the Yadkin Valley?".

I was not being sarcastic when I said that some people just don't get it. And I was not being sarcastic when I said I was an astute observer.

I answered your oversimplified question with the comment that it depended on the situation. That is what started the exchange between you and I.

A single photograph would not be proof unless more details were shown. But that picture is certainly evidence of torture.

It's a pity the CIA accidentally destroyed the video of their Guantanamo 'interrogations' isn't it?

We could have happily ditched the photographs altogether, moved into the 21st Century, and enjoyed these exciting torture techniques in the comfort of our own homes on YouTube.

I was hoping they would make a coffee table book with pictures from it!

my guess is that most folks, if placed in that same situation as the guy in the photo by enemies who had captured them and incarcerated them, would have a sense of severe mental suffering.... which meets the definition of torture which is part of the supreme law of OUR land.

I suppose we could have if 1) the video showed torture, and 2) we would have enjoyed it.....

and I think the question of severe mental suffering is a bit subjective.....as I said earlier, I suspect most liberals experience it when they are told they are idiots.....

Congress and the justice department have already gone through this once.

Governments generally aren't very receptive to being told they have been torturing people, even if it is their own military telling them about it.

You may have noticed this.
