Sports isn't about "exploring who you are," it's about competition. It's excelling at something with no advantage over the next competitor, other than the desire to succeed.
It wouldn't be fair for me to try to enter a .22 200 yd. silhouette match with my .220 Swift, saying it's still a .22(0), or going for a job saying being a minority trumps knowledge of the craft.
