Ukraine retakes 75 miles of Russian-held territory, pushes toward Kherson

When I was in Egypt the Money from the Arabic Countries was divided into thousandths. The West is familiar with the Basic Unit (say a Dollar) being divided into tenths (a Dime) and hundredths (a Penny).
The Basic Unit there (say a Dinar) is divided into 'dimes', 'pennies', AND 'Mils'. The Mils that I saw were like aluminum shavings that resembled 'fingernails'. They were so thin and lightweight that the wind could carry them away. They were next to worthless then (1965), and may not exist as a 'coin' anymore. (?)

Different names in different Countries. 'Fils' is used, so is 'Millimes'.

I've been to most Middle East countries and never seen 1000ths.

The US is privatizing the military so the CIA hires Blackwater for its army of mercenaries to overthrow democratically elected governments. Eric Prince came real close to controlling Ukraine.

I can certainly believe that ... but I don't know if that is TRUE in this case.

I watched the Democratically-elected Allende of Chile being overthrown by CIA-backed Pinochet who 'disappeared' thousands of College students. They even made a Movie about it:

True in some cases but I've been to Egypt, Dubai and UAE.

:) Ask about it next time you are there. Inflation destroys most foreign currencies. I went to Brazil and they used the 'Cruzeiro'. Next time I went, they used 'Novo Cruzeiro'. It was like, a thousand 'Cruzeiros' equals a 'Novo Cruzeiro'. Then ... the next time I went, ... they had a different name for their Currency. US 'Dollars' were like Gold there.

Do they still make English 'Pennies' that are 1.5 inches in diameter? They were in use in the West Indies back then.

No, that was back in the days of 240 pence to the pound.

Oh yeah. This thing looked like you could melt it down and make money from the Copper content! :)

Speaking of '240 pence', do you notice the Middle East used the 'decimal system' for their Money? 'Basic Unit', then 'decs', 'cents', 'mills'.

thanks for checking my math.....does this mean a kopek is worth $0.001?

There are over 100 Rubles to the Dollar, and 100 Kopeks to the Ruble, so 10,000 Kopeks to the Dollar, or a Kopek is worth $0.0001(you needed an extra 0).

When something like this happens, the valueless coin goes out of circulation. Whatever small amount of metal in the Kopek is worth far more than its monetary value. Besides, no one is going to spend even a second trying to pay a bill of 1/100th of a penny.
