Let me tell you a story. It's not about a man named Jed, or about a five-hour tour aboard the SS Minnow.
So, I know some of you with ADD won't make it all the way through, but that's not my problem. It's yours. If that's you, you can stop reading now and call me a Russian troll, a traitor, a paid pawn of Putin, whatever. I don't care.
Now, for the adults in the room: Yavoriv Military Base is in smoking ruins right now following an early morning Russian air strike. It's about 16 klicks from the border with Poland.
Ten days ago, an idealistic US Marine Corps vet left home to fight the Russians, and he ended up there...
This is his story, gleaned from his Tweets, which I've already posted elsewhere.

But here they are: "I am an EMT USMC vet with combat and trauma experience. I’ll be arriving the 9th with a decent amount of medical gear to volunteer where needed. I also have friends who are trying to accumulate recently expired medical supplies from hospitals in the state I’m from. I’m hoping to establish a logistical channel to get those supplies from them to me on the ground and to areas where they are critically needed."
So far, so good. Then, just like that, Russian missiles hit his base in Lviv, which is in the far west of Ukraine, near the Polish border: "Yes, I was here today and blown off the top bunk of my bunk bed in the barracks by the first missile. I made a long post about it but my posts don't show on this thread for some reason. This is where all the foreign troops are, the 35 killed were all Ukrainian mostly due to a direct hit on their barracks next to mine. The base is destroyed, the weapons depot destroyed, possibly the end. About 60 people with their heads on straight including myself left after the attack. They're sending untrained guys to the front with little ammo and shit AKs and they're getting killed. The guys who stayed got bombed again in the afternoon and casualties aren't clear. If you still want to join them I'm not sure what the process will be since literally all the infrastructure supporting the training/ assignments of volunteers is all destroyed. The guys who are there now will all be going to Kyiv and many will die, totally outgunned and just a few crazy Ukrainian leaders. After the attack one officer wanted to march everyone to Kyiv and fight. Absolute insanity. Stay home."
His equally-idealistic fanbois back in the world asked whether he really had cut and run. Yes, he had: "Left. Some are staying to help refugees – some going home. But it is clear that going to Kyiv is nearly a fucking death sentence. A medic died the day after he got to the front, another guy tried shooting an AK at an APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) and was killed immediately, a 10 man team was nearly wiped out – 8 killed and 2 crawled away. Your body will not be retrieved from the front lines either. Those trainees who did not desert were sent to die near Kyiv."
The woke western "news" media and the gullible on JPP want you to “save democracy” and “stand with Ukraine” while they conspicuously don't do so themselves.
I've posted the invitations and appeals from the Ukrainians begging JPP chicken-hawks to volunteer to fight many times.
None of you have, AFAIK, which is lucky for you, because it looks like a cannon fodder farming operation.
Non-Ukrainians who sign up to die brandishing Soviet-era small arms at Russian battle tanks are not defending “world peace” or "democracy" or "freedom", or anything like that.
They are sacrificing themselves to bolster some peripheral interest of arrogant western globalism, which is responsible for numerous armed conflicts around the world as I type this. Yankee, stay home.
We are ourselves in the end stage of democracy right now, in which most "liberal" political norms have been cast aside in favor of naked totalitarian authoritarianism.
My posts regarding the debacle in Ukraine have yielded many angry comments, some from people who should have known better.
Some folks believe that I need to "support the Ukrainians" or else I'm "supporting the Russians".
I support neither, and I oppose neither.
I'm not a Ukrainian.
It's not my fight, it's not America's fight, it's not NATO's fight, and it ain't yours, either, unless you fly to Europe and saddle up.
We both know you won't, so spare me your poutrage.
The truth is, the Ukrainians are the expendable proxies of the Biden regime who were cynically sacrificed to help DEMOCRATS in the coming midterms, and that is the only reason that the DEMOCRAT-dominated media has fooled you into "caring" about this particular conflict, instead of any of the others erupting worldwide right now.
