The International Court of Justice today ordered Russia to stop the military actions it started in Ukraine on February 24.
"The Russian Federation shall immediately suspend the military operations that it commenced on Feb 24, 2022 in the territory of Ukraine," the ruling said.
The judges added that Russia must also ensure that other forces under its control or supported by Moscow should not continue the military operation.
A ruling of the ICJ is binding on all UN member states. That doesn’t mean Putin will comply, of course. It does mean the court has dismissed Putin’s claims about “Nazis” and “genocide” which he used to justify the invasion.

Complying...might just be Putin's best option...the option that gives him more cover than any of the alternatives.
At some point he needs an off ramp. Using the court ruling as justification is better paved than the pot holed alternatives.

I've said many times- supporting Israeli criminality undermines America's moral code ( no sarcasm intended ) and weakens international law to the point wherein it will bite America's ass.
Russia will simply point to America's support for Israel's crimes and its ignoring of rulings by the ICJ. Hypocrites.

It's a sound organization in theory- but it wasn't expected that the US would betray its principals over a bunch of Zionist ethnic-cleansers.
