Iran deal talks on 'pause' after Russia demands relief from sanctions

Russia, which is serving as a negotiator on behalf of Iran, brought talks to a standstill this week by tying the outcome of the talks to sanctions Moscow is facing in response to it's efforts to overtake Ukraine.

The top EU negotiator offered no timeline for when the talks, which have been taking place in Vienna, would restart. An Iranian representative discussing the pause on Twitter framed it in a positive light.

"Pause in #ViennaTalks could be a momentum for resolving any remaining issue and a final return. Successful conclusion of talks will be the main focus of all,” Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, tweeted Friday. “No external factor will affect our joint will to go forward for a collective agreement.”

Like Borrell, Khatibzadeh also did not identify the "external" issues at play.

They might not sell it to us. I can't see the Iranian hard-liners wanting to power the war machine of The Great Satan and its little wizards.

they'll sell it - it doesnt matter to where as as oil is fungible

Putin is smart. He's forcing bungling Biden to beg harder and longer for Iranian oil to replace the Russian oil that the old fool recently reluctantly renounced.

By dragging it out, bungling Biden's desperation and discomfiture will be a definite drag on DEMOCRATS this fall.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Putin is already dangling that bait in front of the Ayatollah's nose to induce him to destroy bungling Biden politically by releasing secret diplomatic messages that would end in impeachment for the old fool.
 
the sad thing is, Biden should have walked out of the talks the day Putin drove tanks up to the Ukranian border.......and issued the sanctions at the same time........
