Some of them still do. They are our fellow Americans, one and all, whether we like it or not. The best thing we could do would be to try to figure out how to have more meaningful dialog with them. We've got to pull America together. There needs to be things like listening, understanding, respect. If that doesn't exist between two people, the only way it can begin is with one of them going first.
If it just can't happen, then it isn't very productive to continue harassing one another. That kind of vibe is unneeded stress. It's nicer when that is pushed away.
When hostilities are pushed out of one's life, a refreshing new perspective ensues. Happiness comes more easily, and it is a good happiness, not based on looking down on others or a 'we/they' positioning. More of an 'all-of-us' view, simply some of 'us' cannot be talked to politely so don't, and it's just as easy to seek out other voices who are polite, share manners, and generally have a better outlook on the world. That's the vibe to savor, the interaction to seek, and benefit from...

Commendable. I experimented with the thread ban feature for a while but quit using it. What I ran into was people who would copy paste your entire OP into a new thread, which they give a similar title to, maybe change one or two characters, and then your thread has essentially been stolen.
Then discussion is split between two similar threads, so it's diluted. The Mods don't have time to try to keep up with thread thieves, combining similar threads, honoring the original OP. I concluded that the thread ban feature is useless. I quit using it. Let em have their say. I just place the unruly on Ignore and forget about it. I really don't care what they have to say anyway. That's the attitude which has to be taken, the way it has to be.
I would love to see a new rule prohibiting thread thievery. The copy cat thread should be deleted. Any posts in it from those banned in the OP should also be deleted.
That would enhance better conversation.
There is a rule 3 which could totally be used to address this, but it is not enforced. Rule 3 even suggests it is toothless, so I don't see any point in having a meaningless rule:
"3. Please do not flood the board with multiple same-subject Threads. Multiple threads will be merged, when I have the energy... and deleted when I don't."
I don't like to bug the mods, so I never brought it to anyone's attention.
