Putin's propagandists hit the panic button

Even Russian State TV Is Pleading With Putin to Stop the War

There is a notable mood shift in Russia, as darkness sets over its economy and the invasion of Ukraine hits major problems. While the beginning of President Vladimir Putin’s full-scale war against Ukraine was greeted with cheers, clapping, and demands of Champagne in the studio, the reality sobered up even the most pro-Kremlin pundits and experts on Russian state television.

State TV pundit Karen Shakhnazarov pointed out: “The war in Ukraine paints a frightening picture... I don’t see the probability of denazification of such an enormous country. We would need to bring in 1.5 million soldiers to control all of it. At the same time, I don’t see any political power that would consolidate the Ukrainian society in a pro-Russian direction... Those who talked of their mass attraction to Russia obviously didn’t see things the way they are. The most important thing in this scenario is to stop our military action."

Putin needs a 'Way Out'.

It looks like Putin has 'caved' on the idea of replacing the Zelensky Government.
Recognizing 'Crimea' as 'Russian' seems reasonable to me, but it's forceful 'annexation' might be the stumbling block for the international community.
The 'Donbas' region could become 'autonomous' regions within Ukraine.

'NATO membership' could easily be rejected and said 'out loud'. If there EVER was a reason to be a part of NATO, Putin just made the case.
Putin has forever created a divide between historically Slavic Brothers. Ukraine will now become 'European' in the eyes of everyone ... including Putin.
It's like a Birthday Gift, a Christmas Present, to Europe and the West.
This could end the Era of Putin.

At this point, I wonder if Putin can even take Kiev, without reducing it to rubble with indiscriminate artillery fire, as was done to Grozny.

That's about as tepid a criticism you can get, but avoiding a bullet in the head is an art form in Russia.

So they're allowed to sow a little doubt, as long as they continue the lie?

Baby steps.

That's his plan. He did it in Syria. When he's ousted and put into prison, Russia is going to have to use oil revenue to rebuild Ukraine when the world oversees the penalty for the war crimes.

I think that is the 'Dog & Pony Show'. I think the Main Objective is in the East and South of Ukraine.
You are familiar with the Kievian Rus. How intelligent would it be to destroy the Birthplace of 'Russia'.
Like the Italians bombing Rome. Or the Arabs bombing Mecca.

Whereas the daily tidbits coming from the region are hard to watch, I see what's aligning here.

Zelensky is both thumbing his nose at the impotent NATO alliance, while baiting Putin. He's already mentioned that NATO membership is not something he sees as viable.

It's meant to get Putin to the table.

IF there is ever a way out of this, Zelensky will pull a Putin, and join NATO anyway.

:) I'm not sure NATO would welcome Ukraine at this point.
I think the idea is 'containment'.
Not letting this thing GET BIGGER.

Russian News Anchor Likens Home to North Korea, 'Absolutely Isolated'

Russian news anchor Ekaterina Kotrikadze says her home country has become so "isolated" that it's now comparable to North Korea.

"Russia is becoming absolutely isolated," Kotrikadze, who worked as an anchor for the independent Russian television channel TV Rain before she fled the country, told CBS News. "It really looks like North Korea to me."

Kotrikadze left Russia with her family last week shortly after TV Rain was blocked by the country's media regulator as part of Russia's increasing crackdown on independent news outlets and journalists.

Over the last couple of weeks, a number of media companies have been shut down by the Kremlin over its coverage of the ongoing war in Ukraine, which state media and President Vladimir Putin have described as a "special operation."

It's a miracle she was able to escape

This is a good example of what Globalization does. Makes the World a Village. The 'Elders' at the UN should be actively engaged in this. Some kind of negotiations around these Nuclear Sites to make then 'neutral'. Humanitarian Corridors established by UN.

Uhm..that could kick off WW3. How about no?

To me it looks like Putin is just destroying everything. He's not going after Nazis, he's bombing hospitals and rescue workers.

Soldiers killing families to take up position in their houses on the outskirts of Kiev; That's some Nazi-ish shit right there.

This thing is very bad and it needs to stop.

:) Keep in mind the West isn't above 'propaganda' in it's Narrative.

The Putin cheerleaders on this board are not slacking off. They are as pro-Putin as ever. They do not care how many Russia kills.

Freedom of the press has been under assault in Putin's Russia for at least a decade, but it hasn't gotten as bad as Belarus or Myanmar yet. But it looks like Putin is using the Ukraine war as an excuse to kneecap what remains of independent media in Russia.

It's nice that they expose themselves. 'Anatta/Dukkha' can now be understood in his role here, as can 'Moon'.

I've been wrong about Putin before, but reducing Kiev to rubble seems pretty extreme, even for him. Gozny and Allepo are where the "dirty" Muslims live.

Kiev has enormous symbolic and cultural importance to both Ukranians and Russians. Kiev is what gave birth to Slavic civilization and eastern Christianity. I think even the conscience of Russians would be shocked to see Kiev turned into a pile of rubble.

Unless Putin believes that he can keep his war crimes hidden from the public forever?

It's possible Putin just won't give a sh+t.

But Russia is not North Korea. They still have access to the internet, and I don't think turning Kiev into a smouldering pile of rubble, as was done in Grozny, could be kept hidden forever. Russian soldiers are also ultimately going to tell their family and friends what they saw.

How I hope that it will work out that way.
