Crimea was always Russian ( remember the Crimean War ? ) - and Crimeans voted almost unanimously to return to Russia. You believe in self-determination, don't you ?

The Donbas states are now Republics- recognized by several other countries already.

Seems like the USA South also voted 'almost unanimously' to secede from the USA. Most Americans are now glad to have free unimpeded travel among the 50 states. Half of America would be less great than the full United States of America is now.

Crimea is technically Ukraine.

The end of this war should result in Ukraine being restored to it's original territory.

Donbas is only recognized by a smattering of rogue trouble-maker states. The rest of the world knows it was an obvious ploy by Putin to try to justify a completely unprovoked war of aggression in which he is trying to reestablish the USSR.

The South was defeated . The Donbas was not.
