Not quite....the incumbent was essentially resting on his laurels and NOT taking care of business for a large part of his constituency. THAT is why he lost ... he didn't even campaign hard enough and thought the political machine would pull him through.

Now everyone is upset because (initially) Cortez was NOT going to play by party rules...so every little gaff and such is emphasized and blown out of proportion. Meanwhile, the serious left wing & progressives are upset with her because they see capitulation and too much compromise.

And the band played on.
