"A new bill in California would allow private citizens go after gun makers in the same way Texas lets them target abortion providers, though gun advocates immediately promised a court challenge if it becomes law."

"Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday backed legislation that would let private citizens enforce the state’s ban on assault weapons. It’s modeled after a Texas law that lets private citizens enforce that state’s ban on abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected."

"Texas and other conservative-led states have tried for years to ban abortions. But the states’ attempts have been blocked by the courts."

"But Texas’ new abortion law is unique in that it bars the government from enforcing the law. The idea is if the government can’t enforce the law, it can’t be sued to block it in court. The U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority has allowed the abortion law to stay in place pending a legal challenge."

"The proposal fulfills fears from some gun rights groups, who have opposed the Texas abortion law because they worried liberal states like California would use the same principle on guns."

Pretty obvious States looking to curb gun violence are going to also pass similar legislation, which means Brett and the boys are going to have a tough decision down the road, either Texas and California's laws are Constitutional, or both are not

Kudos to Newsom for exposing the hypocrisy

Is this the bill that would make gun owners criminals if they dont report to the schools their kids go to the guns they own and where they keep them?

That's pretty cute, surely there will also be a snitch line....Regressives adore snitches.

Many warned them this would happen.

The defense and protection of the state and of the United States is an obligation of all persons within the state. The legislature shall provide for the discharge of this obligation and for the maintenance and regulation of an organized militia.

Wouldn't say so, but if it was, how is it any different than Texas' abortion law that allows someone to sue the Uber driver if he drives a person to an abortion clinic?

The American justice system is a pile of dog shit from soup to nuts.

Buckle Up, massive abuse ahead.

It's pretty bad, just about needs a razing and restructuring.

If only everything worked like on "Perry Mason".

It somewhat used to, but that was the 50s.

I believe that's the impetus

The thing about AMerica over the last decades is that almost never are problems fixed, they fester, they get worse, and almost everyone pretends otherwise.

Call it societal suicide.

Excellent question. I wonder how Clarence Thomas feels about that?

Just bought a new pistol this afternoon. Just a pocket gun but my other one is 30 years old and was starting to jam on occasion. Instant background check and paid cash …

Yes, I may be a step or two up from a CCP. It’s just a Ruger LCS 2. It’s a 10 shot 22 caliber pistol that fits in my hip pocket. I carry it when I have to tuck my shirt in and have to conceal my main weapon in an ankle holster.

Oh! So class III license? Wow..okay..Thx. I get the gun you got..

2-stage-trigger , right?

Pfft.. I was carrying a Lorcin .25 in 1998.

No round racked. :nono:

My cousin had a class 3 license. He had a helluva collection, too.

Quigley Down Under gun...he had it.

"The Rifleman" gun, too. Among others..

I wanted to get him an M1 like he went to war with, but by the time I found one and was ready, he was about to die. :(

His mind was good right until the end.

He had one, but it was all synthetic and not the real deal. Ah well, we had some good fish dinners. :)

A lot of good barbeques and conversations, too. :D

We, the People were warned that would happen when Texas first broached the idea. Just more proof both sides want to take away our freedom.

Why should anyone confide in the sincerity of gun lovers?

Nice plinker. Ruger's LCS series looks great although I've never fired one. Why did you choose a .22 over a pocket 9MM?

Or even better....

It's not different. If one is unconstitutional, they both are.

He told me a lot of good stuff.

Like how it was on the day he got shipped out to go to ww2. And how it was over there.

And what he did when he came back.
