I don’t agree with this policy, in totality, but understand the thinking. It isn’t the Afghan people’s fault that Saudi terrorists killed US citizens, but, unfortunately, the Afghan government is now the Taliban who were in charge when the terrorist who masterminded the 9/11 attacks had training camps in Afghanistan. The Taliban should be penalized, and they are the ones who the funds will be released to and in reality, how much will they use for the people of Afghanistan?

That's for them to decide, not Biden. The Taliban have suffered the rape and pillage of their country by a succession of dumbass presidents for over twenty years. That's punishment enough for being landlords to a group with which they were not, necessarily, collaborating. Bin Laden's plans would have been ultra-secret . Even if some Taliban WERE collaborating - which logic decrees unlikely- they were probably all killed in the first waves of the invasion. ' Taliban ' means ' student '. It doesn't mean ' terrorist ' as a bunch of scurrilous thieves would have us believe. You don't start to rebuild relations with Afghans by killing them through deprivation.

Besides, the actual perpetrators of 9/11 are all dead, most killed in the attack and the rest hunted down. The Afghan government money should not be filched as compensation to anybody and the mere suggestion of it stinks of avarice and fraud.
