feb 8 2022 PHILADELPHIA- A Philadelphia grandfather and military veteran was gunned down Sunday night during a carjacking outside his mother’s house in Rhawnhurst.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, 60-year-old George Briscella was visiting his mother at her house on the 2100 block of Afton Street around 8 p.m.

Video surveillance footage shows Briscella walking towards a 2020 Toyota Rav4 parked in the driveway when three unknown suspects approach him a minute later.

Soon after, police say three shots were fired from an AR-15 style rifle and one hit Briscella on the right side of the abdomen. He was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where he died.

Care to explain how it is a media blackout when a simple search finds at least 6 media outlets reporting the story?

What it isn't is a national story just as the murder of a black man in Philly or Chicago isn't a national story. Local crime normally only makes local news. That is true for 99.9% of crime whether the victim is black or white.

The black jogger killing was a local crime, but it sure was on CNN at night for months

The murder of a black jogger had video. Video is great for TV. But then it also was more of a story because the killers weren't arrested right away and the prosecutor was accused of malfeasance. It wasn't a story just because of the crime itself. It was a story because it showed how white people got off when they clearly commit murder. If those in Philly aren't indicted because they know the prosecutor, it will make national news. Until then, it is a simple local crime where the perpetrators once identified will be quickly charged and convicted.

Just to give you an idea of the timeline for when the Aubrey killing became national news.
The murder occurred on Feb 28th.
The video wasn't released until May 7th.
The killers were never arrested until May 7th.
May 12th is the first time I can find CNN reporting on it.

Let us know when the killers in Philly are known to Law enforcement but allowed to walk around free for 2 months. Then you can bitch about CNN not covering the story.
