Obama: government health care not good idea

I don't believe anything he says anymore. He has some screws loose.

its a somewhat tongue in cheek thread....he is trying to get us to believe in gov h/c....but then uses the post office vs. fed ex, ups as examples of how badly the government actually runs things

Can I get a summary of what is on the video?

Edit: And I'd note that I don't recall Obama every supporting government run healthcare. He has said he supports single-payer, but that is government run health insurance not government run healthcare.

The post office has like a 90% approval rating. I have no idea why right wingers try to bring out the post office when they talk about failing government programs, when our post office is probably one of the best post offices in the entire world, including private ones.

it was a bad analogy almost everyone agrees with that.
I do think he did a great job of Jamming the neocons heads up their ass yestarday.
Oh, Pelosi and Reid too.

FedX and UPS are doing quite well, so why would the post office not be?
Because the Post Office didn't see the changes coming and invest more in package delivery rather than bill delivery. Even bills are now sent in e-mail, bank statements, even mortgage statements are all sent via electronic means. It is rather odd to use a failing semi-government program as an example of why we should jump in the government controlled universal coverage...

The USPS is becoming obsolete.

BTW - The USPS is a odd conglomeration of private/public.

The trouble is that the USPS has no death panels. If the post office could just kill off undesirable communities instead of spending shitloads of money providing postal service to far flung sparsely populated locales it could compete more effectively. FEDEx and UPS don't have to deliver to Edna Bay, Alaska but I'm sure they will if you want to pay for it. The USPS on the other hand has to deliver my mail there for a measly first class stamp.

OMIGOD! The libs must be squirming in their seats and eating their pointy little tails!

This is the finest example of Obama swallowing his head every time he opens his mouth without his binky!

I really don't get the criticism. People like the post office, but if they want service above and beyond what USPS provides they can use a private courier. What's the issue again?

That's exactly my point. The government can never react to the market like a profit motivated private company can.

Have they not heard of the internet? Do they not see folks shopping on line, paying with a credit card (no mail) and then having a package delivered? Have they not seen the exponential growth of this phenomenon?

it loses money, dumbass. The government takes up the slack. It's not great idea to model healthcare in a similar fashion since over taxation can quickly kill this economy. I don't expect you to understand you tax and spend moron
