Broken tubes

Apologies for radio silence. I’ve been on the other side of the Pacific — and the hotel Internet has been down for most of my stay. Now it’s finally back up, but I’m leaving for the airport in a few minutes.

I might be able to post from an airport lounge somewhere along the way. Otherwise, normal service will resume Wednesday.

Meanwhile, two quick links. Some wise words here, about the reality Obama needs to face — namely, that he faces truly crazy opponents, that it’s not just politics as usual.

And just as an illustration: a number of people have pointed this out, but here’s the latest in the “Obama’s health reform will kill people” news: Investor’s Business Daily — which poses as a reputable source of financial information — opines that
People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn’t have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.

That would be Stephen Hawking, British professor, who was born in the UK and has lived there for his whole life.

I'm quite entertained at the mere notion that 435 congressmen, 100 senators, and one president hasn't read the 1,000+ pages of this health care reform bill, yet are hitting town halls across the nation expecting to deliver answers to their constituents.

It's even more hilarious that there are people on this forum who claim to know whats factual and whats erroneous, as far as claims of the bill, and that they've read all 1,000+ pages of this behemoth.

very entertaining.

You don't have to read every page of the 1000 page bill to be able to find the parts that dispel myths like death panels, coverage for illegals, etc. You guys didn't read the 1000 pages to cherry pick bits you could take out of context either.

excuse me?....are you claiming the proposed act doesn't cover illegals?....I would like you to show me the part that dispels that "myth".....

Yeah, you fucking ignorant retard.

Sec. 246. No Federal payment for undocumented aliens.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

LOL

The one will ride across the country on his magic unicorn and wave his magic wand and turn all the illegals into US citizens before the passage of Obamacare. Problem solved.

"First of all, I'd like to create a situation where we're dealing with illegal immigration, so that we don't have illegal immigrants," he said. "And we've got legal residents or citizens who are eligible for the plan. And I want a comprehensive immigration plan that creates a pathway to achieve that."

"The one exception that I think has to be discussed is how are we treating children," he continued. "Partly because if you've got children who may be here illegally but are still in playgrounds or at schools, and potentially are passing on illnesses and communicable diseases, that aren't getting vaccinated, that I think is a situation where you may have to make an exception."

Exceptions, exceptions, then it will be the parents that are also included, what a fuckwad he is.

It's amazing someone could post that without a hint of shame.

LOL

Are you upset that the one has a unicorn & a magic wand or that we will eventually be paying health insurance for every illegal that is in this country?

If the right would allow us to tax illegals income the issue would be clear cut.

But obviously, giving vaccines to illegals is for the benefit of our own children just as much as that of illegals. You guys are pure, unadulterated evil.

Again, you make the case that the parents will have to be covered as well. Can't have those parents of illegals spreading around their diseases with the rest of us and their kids.

that covers only that subtitle.....three out of over 1000 pages....and it merely says that subtitle doesn't allow it........where is there a prohibition....

Washington, D.C. July 22, 2009) As estimates of the costs of President Obama’s national health care overhaul soar into the trillions of dollars, the powerful House Ways & Means Committee rejected an amendment last Friday that would have limited the taxpayers’ liability by ensuring that illegal aliens would not qualify for the bill’s health care benefits. In a straight party line vote, the committee’s 26 Democrats rejected an amendment offered by Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) to the America’s Affordable Health Care Choices Act, H.R. 3200.

IT'S THE SUBTITLE OUTLINING THE DISTRIBUTION OF GOVERNMENT FUNDS FOR THE PUBLIC OPTION.

It says right there in black and white.

Not to mention, in another section it explains how you need to have a social security number to even get an account.
