There is no long term scientific data on the vaccine and the is a high side effect and death profile. According to the government VARS site COVID vaccines have had more adverse reactions than ALL other vaccines COMBINED over the last 20 years. Its a risk verses benefit thing. I have multiple co-morbities so the vaccine makes sense for me because 75% of all COVID deaths have four or more co-morbities. A 19 year old with ZERO co-morbities and with a as high as 1 in 2000 risk of myocarditis from the vaccine should not have to choose between the jab and ability to feed his family. Specially when him taking a jab will have NO EFFECT on the transmission of the virus.

So, a quick follow-up to that: the initial data on risk from COVID and long-term side effects was much worse. And there are still long haulers dealing with debilitating symptoms.

Why did conservatives downplay that the entire time, but now all we hear about is the risk from vaccines - which statistically is much, much less?

AGAIN its potential risk vs potential benefits. Healthy people under 50 have a very low rate of negative effects from getting COVID. So they should DECIDE ON THEIR OWN if they WANT to take the vaccine. YOU have no right to make that decision for them. AND we know the vaccine isn't that effective.
