You sure made a fuck of a lot of assumption here.
1. I am solidly against the death penalty. But it still exists, unfortunately.
2. I am an atheist.
3. I've never served time, but have indeed been to prisons, back when I was Christian and did prison ministry.
What are you talking about?
1) you mentioned the death sentence pal. And all I did was make a statement about it. I said NOTHING about what you felt.
It was YOU whom wrongly assumed I was talking about you.
2) I said '
IF you believe in God'.
That is not an assumption.
That is a question/inclusion.
An assumption would be 'I assume you believe in God.'
Which I did not type.
3) and I was right. I meant going to prison as in SERVED TIME in prison.
Visiting a prison is NOTHING compared to serving time in one.
NOTHING.
That's like saying you know exactly what child birth feels like because you watched your wife give birth.
Nope.
You would - I assume - have to give birth to know what it is like.
Just like a woman cannot know what it is like to get kicked in the balls unless she had balls herself.
Men know it is a unique sensation.
And you have to be in prison - without the control to leave - to know what it is like.
Visiting is nothing...no offense.
Prison sucks primarily not because the people are awful and the surroundings suck.
It sucked (for me) because you have almost NO RIGHTS and you can NEVER leave unless someone else let's you leave.
Your life is 100% in the hands of others.
You no longer are free in ANY sense of the word.
The fact that you are surrounded by (generally) terrible, human beings (almost all of whom SWEAR they are innocent, btw) doesn't help either, though.
