Is the West Becoming Pagan Again?

You don't.

OTOH, I recommend all of those who are intellectually inclined or who want to round out their education to study great philosophies and philosophers of the past be it Jesus, Siddhartha or Aristotle.

Are you recommending we burn books and destroy knowledge, BP?

I agree. I have invested significant time learning about Jesus, Confucius, Sidartha Guatauma, Muhammed, Zhuangzi, Zarathustra, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Augustine, etc because I enjoy it.

I can only respond to the words that leave your keyboard.

99.999999999999999999 percent of your posts are not only actively hostile to religion, but relentlessly portray Religion in the absolute worst light possible.

To me, that is both intellectually dishonest, and it is just bad Historical analysis.

Well, let's slice it into 3 pieces:
1. superstition.
2. Philosophy.
3. Results.

In my view, the superstition and occult aspects of religion are a waste of time. The 'walking on water' may have impressed Primitive People, but it seems farcical today.
In my view, 'Christianity' is a Slave Religion. A counter productive philosophy if you support the Individual and it's struggle to reach it's Full Potential.
A Thousand Years is enough time to prove what you are. The Dark Ages. A Time of Ignorance.

So, any way you want to slice it, 'Religion' is a Failure. You can continue to put lipstick on this Pig, but in the end, it's still a Pig.

Lol, get a life FAGGOTS

Some organized religious groups yes, never confuse organized religion on what God has in mind.

Yeah. Everybody has their own concept. Which is fine, ... until they start putting others that have a different opinion on a Stake and Burn them Alive.

So when Jesus said "turn the other cheek" he did not mean "turn the other cheek."

You and I do not read archaic Greek, so we don't know what was really written in the NT. All we have are imperfect and imprecise vernacular English translations.

Pope John Paul II demostrated what Jesus intended. John Paul went to the prison his would-be assassin was held, and met him privately to say he forgave the man for shooting him.

He did not ask the man be released from prison.

Which is why I think the idea of paganism is legitimate. Christians thought nature was an objection.

I wrote my list of what I consider the negative and positive impacts of Christianity to western civilization were.

I have yet to ever see you even attempt to be marginally balanced and analytically detached.

History is not black and white.

Authoritarian. Intolerant. Dogmatic. Yeah, I usually support just the OPPOSITE of that.

Your last point makes a good point.
The organized religion of its time ,couldn't shut up about the coming Messiah."Just wait till the Messiah gets here".
So the Messiah finally shows up!
And what does organized religion do???
They conspire to have him executed by the government
who they assumed would be sent packing by the Messiah!
Why does the organized religion hate the Messiah ?
Because he's popular with the people,so naturally he has to go.

Everybody has a viewpoint.

Jack, if you keep trying to piss me off, you might regret it. ;)

Yes, too many Americans don't act like Christians.

Why do you give a fuck, Jack? Was your mother a Christian? Did she sleep around with the Preacher and you caught them?

Why does Jesus piss you off so much, Jack?

The Discussion is about 'Religion'.
'Religion' had it's Day in History.
Now, 'Science' is the New Religion.

Jesus was a Jew, who did not develop Christian theology and doctrine.
Christian theology and doctrine were developed by Paul, the church fathers, the apostolic fathers, the doctors of the church, prominent theologians, and tradition.

Self defense is justified in Christian doctrine and theology:

The only major world religion that embraces a concept of total non-violence is Jainism.

so ... the 'turn the other cheek' and 'forgive your Trespassers' is just a bullshit line?
