Video: Conyers scoffs at doing his job

That's pretty hard to believe. Unreal... surreal? He's mocking those who want to know what they're about to decide apon. Who are the morons who put this clown in office? His wife is a criminal too. Let's hope this moron gets the boot from his voters. I doubt it though, his supporters are the same kind of folks who vote for crack smoking mayors... inner city liberal democrats

It's not his job to waste his time.

what a little apologist you are. You must have suffered cognitive dissonance as you watched that. A long time and prominent democrat admitting he doesn't read bills he votes on... shit, that moron is mocking his job.

You are truely what's wrong with this country if you don't have a problem with this.

LOL!

I'm not entirely certain there's a legislature on the planet where every member reads every bill, besides the local school council, of course. It's not necessary to gain an understanding of a law, and is a redundant waste of time.

or the equivalent of throwing shit on the wall and see what sticks.

I am reasonably sure that there is no legislature in the world that passes bills regularly without giving their staff time to read the bills and create a synopsis of what is contained in the bill, yet we have a continually rushed congress who is asked to do exactly that consistently by an Administration that seems wont to request quick passing of what they know will be controversial. As the staffers have time to read the bill so too will the media, and the populace can be educated, the rush to pass is almost always synonymous with a need to get it passed without public review. We have seen a prime example of this recently with the "Health Care Reform."

Tell me what is a reasonable period for a bill to be passed.

For one like this? After the public has had a solid time frame to educate themselves and inform their respective representatives as to how they should vote.

We've seen the effect it has already, even though they tried to push it through before a solid understanding of the bill could be obtained they were denied, and now as most of the populace figures out what was happening they are also denied the passage of this far-reaching legislation effecting generations of Americans.

60% support doing something about the COST of health care, not this mess.

that is what this administration wants to avoid.. they know it probably wouldn't pass...

An issue of this magnitude, affecting the ENTIRE populations health and well being, that will cost an enormous amount of money from taxpayers needs at least 18 to 24 months of airing and debate before being considered ready for a vote....probably much more time in reality

The voting public must be made aware of what the bill would do and how their healthcare would change, who it would cover, what it would cover, and who and how major decisions would be made about treatment, etc....

and peabrain, pinhead Conyers won't even take the time to educate himself what the bill does...then why the hell should he....he won't be covered by it, only the assholes that elected him will...

I think it's time to try and get term limits put on these people...they become career politicians and get lazy, corrupted, and just plain stupid..

I gave you a reasonable approximation, it would be different for different bills.

I am very glad that this one was not passed on the Administrations insistence like the "stimulus" bill they now pretend wasn't really meant to be "stimulus".

So, to make a long story short, basically I'd prefer they wait until they can hear from an educated constituency before they voted on far-reaching legislation that will effect the US for eternity (or its demise whichever comes first). Only hacks and kool-aid drinkers prefer that it gets passed before any public debate can be held on it.

Considering the promise that all legislation would be available for review days before votes of passage it has become abundantly clear that nobody expects these people to hold to that promise.

The American people have been pretty clear in polls they want something that will work to fix the COST, not just cover everything with a bureaucracy-infected blanket.

good gawd..these people are running our country..

WOW

You people are seriously unintelligent.

Conyers gave a frank and honest assessment of what lawmakers have to consider and what he said makes a lot of sense.

Interpreted by people with brains his remarks could lead to better solutions.

Intrepreted by really dumb people looking to score points it leads nowhere and lawmakers are still left trying to read a 1,000 page bill without the legal advice to interpret what they've read.

... amazing
