Trump Says Threats to 'Hang Mike Pence' on Jan. 6 Were 'Common Sense'

So you're complaining pence was threatened and youre complaining that he was being protected.

It's more that we're concerned that the (then) president apparently approved of these death threats, and still does.

"It's common sense that you're supposed to protect. How can you — if you know a vote is fraudulent, right? — how can you pass on a fraudulent vote to Congress?" Trump said.

So threats to hang the Vice President – TRUMP’s Vice President – were “common sense”. Do you support that?

Because 'People Were Angry'

Donald Trump wasn't concerned about Mike Pence on Jan. 6 — even when some of the former president's supporters, who stormed the U.S. Capitol, chanted about hanging the vice president.

In Betrayal, out Tuesday, Karl describes unpublished photos of Pence in hiding. "The photos show Pence in a barren garage. There were no windows and no furniture. This was a loading dock with concrete walls and a concrete floor," Karl writes.

"He was in this concrete parking garage with his family. This is the vice president of the United States and he's holed up in a basement."

Remarkable to see JPP call conservatives still down on their knees french kissing Trump's flabby ass.

I don’t think anyone will want to be his Vice President huh

Unless of course they are willing to break each and every law trump orders them to break

Oh and lick trumps ass daily

And never allow the spot light on themselves because Trump wants all the spot lights

Just stand behind him like a beaten puppy and never say anything

Just like pence did for years

Then trump wanted him hanged anyway for not committing treason to his nation

That would not meet the elements of a threat. Somebody has to threaten he will hang Mike Pence and be serious and able to carry it out. Just advocating Pence be hung is not a threat (although maybe intimidation).

Yes it is. they even erected a scaffold in front of the building. If those rightys caught him, they would have killed him. Advocating is dishonest. They were screaming "hang Pence". They were looking for him. Nobody could have stopped them if they caught him, AOC or Pelosi. They would have been killed.

Guess why people were angry.

Because loose lips sink ships. Trump and all his lies and rumors made those people angry.

Trump should have done the right thing and conceded the election.

The laws about threatening the President and VP are more severe than for other people. It is illegal to even jokingly say you will kill the President (or VP). There is a great deal of comedy about it.

And for good measure, they also broke into the Capitol Building to get to the VP. They even brought a noose with them.

It still does not meet the elements of a threat. An individual must say he is going to harm the person and be serious and capable of doing it. A person who jokingly says he is going to shoot the president may be investigated but is unlikely to be charged. 75% of threats are from the mentally ill.

"Hang Mike Pence" is not a direct threat since the person did not say "I am going to hang Mike Pence". Advocating an action is not the same as threatening to commit it.

In their desire to punish those attacking the Capitol some of our posters are stretching the meaning of the law.

Agree with everything except your first sentence. "If" they caught him does not count. "Hang Mike Pence" is not a direct threat of anyone to kill him. You can yell "Kill all Jews/Republicans/Chinese" and that is mere advocacy--you did not threaten to kill anybody. You are free to advocate anything. This is not a "true threat."

Let them be punished for what they did and not for what you think they did. Liberals appear to have joined the "law and order" crowd (at least for some riots).

A person who jokingly says he is going to shoot the president may be investigated but is unlikely to be charged.

That is called prosecutorial discretion. It means the person committed a crime, but the prosecutor decided not to prosecute.

In this case, they attacked the Capitol Building, so it is hard to ignore it.

Wrong still. They were looking hard to find pence. They did not follow through because they narrowly missed him.

How crazy. They went to the capitol to look for him. They had a scaffold. All the elements were there. Trump was pushing them to kill him. How selective can you be? Pence was terrified as well he should have been. It was a close miss for him.

Idiot admitted to monitoring the insurrection, and refusing to act.

But nobody was charged with threatening the VP and the main reason was that it does not meet the "true threat" test.

sad the OP has no hesitation about lying in his posts.....must be a hardcore demmycrat.....

Helpful if you said what the lying is as a competent debater would, but you didn't. You took the usual Right wing path of the bare insult....must be a soft-brained Trumper able only to snipe from the sidelines.

postmoderprophet is an idiot. virtually an insult bot.

No. Trying hard to find him does not constitute a threat lacking anyone actually threatening to harm him. Again, "Hang Mikel Pence" is mere advocacy. If someone actually declared "I am going to hang Mike Pence" and then actively looked for him it would be a threat.

Look at some of the cases I cited earlier (LBJ, Obama) that the Supreme Court overturned because they were not serious threats.

I sometimes wonder if you every learned basic grammar. "Hang Mike Pence" clearly means "Let us Hang Mike Pence."

Not according to law. If you chant "execute the insurrectionists" are you saying you are going to execute them or you want the prosecutors to execute them?

There is a big difference between "Hang Mike Pence" and "I am going to hang Mike Pence" for purposes of prosecuting a threat.

My grammar deficiencies are no worse than your lack of basic legal knowledge.
