Per Hawaiian law, Statue 338.13, any certified copies of the original document can serve the same purpose as the original document.
"(b) Copies of the contents of any certificate on file in the department, certified by the department shall be considered for all purposes the same as the original, subject to the requirements of sections 338-16, 338-17, and 338-18."
Usually the certification is stamped and signed on the lower reverse side of the document and says "I certify this is a true copy or abstract of the record on file in the Hawaii State Department of Health."

If you were born in this country you are a U.S citizen. If your parents are U.S. citizens, but you were born in another country, you are also a U.S. citizen.

Per US law, if you are born to a citizen of the USA, you are a citizen of the USA, unless you relinquish your rights as a citizen.
Talk about a non-issue! Did his Kansan mother give up her citizenship while she was in Hawaii? Did she do it in Kenya?

It's impossible to believe it's fringe. You see it all over Fox news. Nearly every commentator says it. Every talk radio guy you have says it repeatedly. We hear it from nearly everyone on this board who still admits they're a Republican. It's not some tiny fringe. It's mainstream.

I can't find anything that shows she even visited Kenya, let alone gave birth there. There are references to her being in Ghana, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and China. Not a single word about going to Kenya, although maybe these kooks think his father was the one who actually gave birth.

To be clear, I think he was born in Hawaii and this is thus a non issue. But to play along...
Assume he was born in Kenya. As long as ONE of his parents (his mom in this case) was a US citizen, it does not matter that his father was not or that he was born in Kenya provide his mom lived in the US for at least ten years (which she did) and that five of those years were after turning 14... now this is the catch... if she had him in Kenya, then she would not have quite made the 5 year part.
That is the requirement by US law. I posted the actual law on another thread on this topic. So technically, he would not have been a natural born citizen had he been born outside of the US.
That said... records show that his father was still attending the University of Hawaii from which he graduated in June of 1962. So what reason would his mom have had for going to Kenya if Obamas father was still in Hawaii???????
This is why I hate conspiracy nuts.... they dont pay attention when the FACTs prove their conspiracies are false.
