SO what has your #$& all flared up about Joe Biden?- What did he do that has adversely affected you personally- or directly harmed you in any way?
It’s not what he’s done but more what I believe he’d like to do…
His plans adversely affect the oil and gas industry. I’m ok with green initiatives but my kids (meaning my students) and their parents depend on a robust, profiting oil and gas industry for their income and survival.
Given the opportunity he would (I believe) make it drastically more difficult and/or expensive to purchase firearms and ammunition, effectively pricing both out of the range of the poor and lower middle class. I’m not so sure he wouldn’t give in to the left and try to force liability insurance or something like that on gun owners.
Abortion availability. I’m for restricting not expanding. That’s a given though. Won’t be long I’ll be opposite Republicans on this issue.
I’m on the side of helping the poor but would like to see stricter oversight. Also I would like to see it done with an incentive to eventually
not be receiving government aid…obviously for those who are mentally and physically able. I’m not seeing that in the things I’ve read that Biden wants to do.
Which brings me to jobs. I know there are those who say that we’ll never have the factory jobs we once had in this country but something has to be give. The #1 thing that Trump campaigned on in 2016 that struck a positive chord with me was his promise to try to help get some of the rust belt back on track. Maybe he tried and maybe not but I believe like Dave (the President from the 1993 movie) … that people feel better about themselves when they work for their own living. That is what makes this country so great. Not equity of income or equity of lifestyle but
equity of opportunity. We can’t have that without having decent paying jobs and creating those employment opportunities that can support families. Provide incentive for companies to keep their factories/jobs here. Does the right do that better that the left? Maybe a bit, imo, but neither does a very good job of it. Is a global economy inevitable? Likely. But America First is always a winning strategy with me. I don’t see this with Mr. Biden. Maybe I’m missing it.
Immigration. I’m not a wall person but I am for better border security and vetting of immigrants. We have had a huge influx of people from south of the border (mostly Mexico) here in the past 20 years. They are almost all good people who came here for work and a better life for them and their families. They will almost to a person tell you they’re for better vetting as well, lest the place they came to become like the place they came from. The previous administration might have been a bit heavy handed but currently we seem to be taking the ostrich approach.
The “90%” number might have been a bit of hyperbole but I do try to keep looking for things I can be positive about with Biden.
And what did Donald Trump ever do that ever helped you personally and directly?
I don't get it man!
Outside of a few key Justice appointees who I believe will preserve my 2nd amendment rights without heavy restrictions or obstacles, probably not much. Nothing much changed in my life personally under Trump, other than having a President who caused me to cringe every time he spoke to the press or Tweeted. Nothing much has changed for me personally under Biden except for a few empty shelves at some of the stores I frequent.
