which repub moron told me racism was dead

This is an incident that should never have happened. not because the man was black, but why the fuck don't his neighbors know who he is and why doesn't he know who his neighbors are? THIS is the downfall of america folks.

I'm potentially the most socially liberal on the board, but because I'm fiscally conservative and totally reject the libtards anti-corp junior high bs someone calls me a libertarian.
Obviously they haven't seen the 1,000 post against prohibition and the racist republicans supporting jailing innocent smokers.
I don't think you are the most socially liberal here.

I personally think people should be allowed to do as they will so long as they are not violating the rights of another. I don't think that you can get more socially libertarian than that.

you are a closet Libertarian. you need to finally come out.

WHAT?? Can you say "Double Standard". You'd be howling if he had been a white man and the officer was asking him for his gun permit. A police officer hassles you for ID while your in your own home and you think the resident is out of line for being pissed off?

Dude you're nuts.

huh....i would expect them to ask for my ID after my neighbor reports people trying to break into my house....how in the hell do you think they know its his house?

fail

Me too, but we are both white
again prof may have been out of line, he didn't deserve to be handcuffed and arrested though.

both side prob overreacted
but you don't handcuff a harvard prof once he's proven it.
Cops are under a lot of stress so I wouldn't fire him but I'd put him on some probation for RACISM
Chris Rock had a crazy joke about cops breaking into a black mans home and taking down all the prictures he brought in so they wouldn't think he was robbing it.

proof positive you're spinning your top out of control

you're way to sensitive about racial matters, you're not even close to being rational...you repeatedly ignore evidence that things are not always about racism...like the marijuana issue, i gave you stuff repeatedly and you flat out ignored it and continued your irrational rant that it was all about racism

were you there? then you don't have a clue what this guy said or did...from what i read he was begging for it

at least you finally admit he was out of line and it may very show the arrest was not needed, however, you, nor anyone else, has shown any evidence that this is racially motivated....you're screaming it just because the guy is black...the cop was walking AWAY....and the prof kept coming after him

according to the article

Jesus fuck, Spurt did you go to college???

Marijuana was made mainly illegal due to racist reasons. 800,000 go to jail annually mostly minorities.
I'll give you this, I'm playing the race card to enhance my detesting of the prohibition but wtf.

bullshit....i did extensive research on it in college and formally debated the issue in debate competition....like i told you before, hearst wanted illegal as it competed with paper, they only later used race to make people fear it

i think you're uneducated...i've never seen anyone so insecure about education that they need to constantly question others regarding theirs...i doubt you finished 5th grade

As I stated, I don't think they should have arrested him either. Again, you are proclaiming racism, yet they might have simply arrested him for being an asshole. You don't know. Neither do I. We were not there. Only the cops and the professor were and they are telling two different tales. To proclaim this racist is ridiculous with the level of information we have.

and I showed you tons of shit that they said blacks would rape white woman and mexican would go crazy. It was in newspapers back then, you ignore that. I don't dissagree that some industrialis was behind it, but they used racism, they didn't say their business would be better off. you tool

So, if you had your front door jammed and were trying to force it open and a neighbor called the cops because it LOOKED like someone was breaking in.... you would be pissed at the cops for showing up and asking for ID?

Had the cops not shown up we probably would have had to hear 'well if it were a white mans house they would have shown up right away to investigate'.
Having had experience with cops in similiar circumstances and knowing how some of them can be bone headed storm troopers who can't seem to get it into their heads that being a cop is not the same as being in the Marine corp, I'd say it depends on how the cops handled the situation.

I watched a cop physically abuse my father (who was 67 y.o. at the time) in his own drive way. The reason why he went off on my father? He pulled into my parents driveway following them home from dinner and accused my father of DUI and proceeded to ask him to a field sobriety test. My father politely refused to do the test cause he was physically unable to comply and the storm trooper went off on him and got physically violent with my father, yelled at my mother (actually he threatened to arrest her). Fortunately I had droped in shortly before cause he didnt' calm down till I came out of the house and said "I dont' know what the hell is going on here but you should know that I"m video taping this.". The cop sobered up real quick then. To make a long story short, the cop took my father to the hospital where they took blood samples which tested negative for alcohol (he had not been drinking, he was just physically unable to perform the field test, he was 67 y.o. after all). I insisted my parents file assualt charges against the police officer which they did. They later dropped the charges when the officer aplogized to them. I was dissapointed in that. They should have taught the damn bully a lesson and it should have cost him his job at the least.

My point being, I'm not niave about Police Officers and how a minority of them can be ham handed, beligerant and offensive and how they can behave like storm troopers with little or no provocation. These are ussually young men just out of the millitary, as in my fathers case, who don't comprehend the difference between the mission of a solider (kill the enemy) and a police officer (to protect and to serve).

Yes, I understand that type of situation could have occurred. However, you can also point to times when situations get out of hand when an individual doesn't comply with police officers requests or becomes belligerent for no reason.

At this point, it is a he said/he said situation with the cops telling one story and the professor another. I simply believe that based on this story, to call it racial profiling is a bit ridiculous. Could it be the cops went in all hard ass, sure, but did they do so based on race or because they thought there was a break in? I don't see anything that points to this being racial profiling.
