Obama Embarrasses Republicans by Pointing Out That They're Playing Politics

It's worth the tax raise.

It also lowers total costs overall. If you have your taxes raised but you end up paying less for healthcare overall, it's a positive. The thing that's EXPENSIVE right now is our HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. Even if Obama's plan had a literally 0% increase in efficiency, which is an absurd doomsday scenario, the average American would not be paying more.

When will the so called "rich" finally be paying their fair share? This is what the tax rates will be if Obama, Pelosi, and Reid get their way

Remember the CBO has blasted holes in the cost of Obamacare that the WH has stated. Even this massive tax increase will NOT pay for Obabacare

fuck that when you tax more than libtard France it should be game on for republicans.

Alot of people agree with you - this is one reason why Obama is getting desperate to pass this bill as quickly as possible

Cost, Not Universal Coverage, is Top Health Care Concern for Voters

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Sixty-one percent (61%) of voters nationwide say that cost is the biggest health care problem facing the nation today. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 21% believe the lack of universal health insurance coverage is a bigger problem.

Only 10% believe the quality of care is the top concern, and two percent (2%) point to the inconvenience factor of dealing with the current medical system.

Given a choice between health care reform and a tax hike or no health care reform and no tax hike, 47% would prefer to avoid the tax hike and do without reform. Forty-one percent (41%) take the opposite view

I think there are enough dems to kill it.
And republicans should beat Obama with the defeat.
He needs to realize he shouldn't piss away political capital on freaking pipe dreams and scare tactics.

Like when the first stimulus bill failed to pass Congress (even thiugh the Dems did not need any Republican votes) the liberal media and Obama will blame Republicans

Dems made only one mistake in all this. They should have passed the Fairness Doctrine first - silence talk radio and all dissent - then pass their budget busting bills

That way, nobody would have known about what was in them

rookie mistake in my book, a big one though. He should have passed some smaller stuff to learn.
I hope republicans get smart enough to start calling it HillaryCare

I don't think anyone or anything, not even the awesome power of the State would have been able to silence you, mate.

The fact Dems plan to cover illegals in Obamacare, the soaring cost, the fact you can't buy your own health ins from a private company, and how the care wil be rationed - should make this bill DOA in Congress

But it is scary to see how many Dems want to pass it as is

i like these ideas:

4. Pay Employees for Healthy Habits
When Safeway CEO Steve Burd discovered that 70 percent of health care costs are linked to unhealthy habits, he created incentives that sent his employees scrambling for the produce aisle. "No one quarrels with the fact that if you have three speeding tickets a year, you're a higher risk and should pay more for auto insurance," says the 58-year-old fitness buff. "Our new plan encourages employees to live healthier, and if they don't, then they bear some of the costs." Perks include lower premiums for those who lose weight or quit smoking, free or cheap gym memberships, and a $1,000 health care reimbursement check to encourage cheaper choices like generics over name-brand drugs.

The payoff: The company's new plan has saved 13 percent so far, and employees who've signed up have saved 20 to 30 percent on their premiums. If other companies followed Safeway's lead, the country could save $600 billion to $800 billion.

....

9. Stop Unnecessary Treatments
We spend more than any other country on health care, but we're not healthier for it, partly because so much of the care delivered here is unnecessary, says Shannon Brownlee, author of Overtreated: Why Too Much Medicine Is Making Us Sicker and Poorer.

"The way to fight waste," she says, "is by reorganizing the way doctors and nurses and hospitals provide care. There are models out there of high-quality, low-cost care, and they include some of the most trusted names in medicine: the Mayo Clinic, Kaiser, and Intermountain Healthcare. These programs have a primary provider coordinate all the care. They understand that 21st-century medicine is a team sport. They also put a premium on analyzing the best available evidence and then ensuring that their doctors follow it."

The payoff: "Cutting out even half of the unnecessary health care in this country," Brownlee says, "would be enough to cover every citizen who is now uninsured."

little legislation is needed for these healthcare ideas to work....now that is how this country should work....both republicans and dems (more so dems) love running to the legislation drawing board and drafting up and passing another law to fix every problem....that is not necessary and is in fact one of the reasons this country has so many problems

more obama spreading the wealth around....

The president noted in an interview on NBC's "Today" show that "the House has put forward a surtax." And he repeated his feeling that wealthier Americans, "such as myself," should pitch in and help reinvent the system to spread coverage to those now without it.

libs went all out against the plumber dude to defend obama's statement....well, here obama is saying it again and this time there is no plumber to attack
