That being said, there is zero comparison between what happened in DC on January 6, and what has happened in various protests/riots across the country. The first is insurrection and terror; the others are lawful protests that turn into mob action, but are not intended or designed to overturn an election or install a fascist despot.

Where is "here"? DC? I've been several times but it's a bucket list item for my wife. I hope to take her up in early spring when the Japanese cherry trees bloom. It's beautiful and cool but very few tourists except on weekends. When school is out, DC is busy until fall.

As for "protect the capitol", who besides you and the terrorists knew it would become a coup attempt?

Besides, why would I try to usurp the authority of the FBI, DCPD and all other state authorities as a retired citizen? If my country needs me, I'll be there.
