Epidemiologists say the state’s rates of vaccination has outpaced the national average, but it has not been enough to keep the highly contagious variant at bay because of its outsized population of elderly people and low vaccination rates among younger groups they interact with.

Among those refusing to get vaccinated are around 600 Orange County Fire Rescue workers in the Orlando area who are resisting Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings’ mandate to get vaccinated for COVID-19 or risk losing their jobs. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has threatened to fine local governments like Orange County requiring employees to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

“It certainly is not my desire to terminate any of our employees and we have not to date terminated any of our employees because they refuse to take the vaccine. I hope that we don’t get to that point,” Demings said Friday. “But regardless of what you think about the vaccine, where you land as an individual, there’s still some lawful authority that we have as an employing entity over the employees that we are directly responsible for.”

Meanwhile, one of central Florida’s largest hospital systems transitioned back to normal operations after several weeks of restrictions on elective surgeries and other efforts to conserve resources because of the surge of COVID-19 hospitalizations. AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division said the number of COVID-19 patients at its hospitals now stands at 850 people, several hundred patients fewer than earlier this summer.

“We understand that COVID will be with us and we are going to need to understand how to care for COVID patients while we also care for others that need care in our community,” Dr. Neil Finkler, chief clinical officer for AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division, said Friday.

Nobody wants to talk about how SARS-COV2 has hit a wall in Florida.

I am shocked.

Florida....10th in COVID deaths per capita, with the fifth oldest population.....that smells like winning.

5 deaths yesterday says World0Meters.....that is certainly winning.

in the 50's and 60's, you morons would have bitched about polio and smallpox and measles shots being mandatory for kids to enter school.

why are you so fucking stupid?

Because states like California and New York have lowered their death rates so much, it is hard to tell when the waves are hitting. Florida has failed to artificially lower the death rate much, so has well defined waves and troughs. It appears to be headed for another trough, before another wave.

The obvious fear is that we will never get Florida off its waves and troughs. If that is true, Covid-19 will noticeably lower America's life expectancy.

Nobody wants to talk about how SARS-COV2 has hit a wall in Florida.

It clearly has not hit a wall. It is hopefully headed for another trough, but that is just a maybe. Given DeSantis' playing with numbers, we can not really be sure.

Florida has clear wave and troughs, because their Covid-19 is so extremely out of control.

its seasonal.. the other states will start up this fall

Nobody really knows lol.

The CCP bug is notoriously hard to pin down in terms of its behavior going forward. I saw where Johns Hopkins is going to attempt a national study on natural immunity. Finally. Think about that: almost two years into this and no major study has been done on the prevalence of natural immunity.

How long have you, me and a few others been pissing and moaning about lack of mass antibody testing? Since April of 2020? It’s crazy. Practically all of it is.

There has been two years of nothing but studies on natural immunity. How disconnected from reality do you have to be to have missed that?

The answers are still coming in, but it appears immunity fades enough by five months that it is easy to get Covid-19 again. And that it gets to a point that patients have a greater chance of getting Covid-19 again, than those who have never had it.

The prevalence, Alter, the prevalence.

I’m not sure where you get your ‘science’ from but the current science strongly suggests that natural immunity is more robust [27X more so according to the recent Israel study] than vax immunity. Yet natural immunity fades faster? Doesn’t make a lot of sense, Alter.

What’s befuddling is our public health ‘expert’s’ resistance to science on this subject. Why aren’t the naturally immune exempt from the mandates when *the science says* they have more robust immunity than the vax’d do?

Makes zero sense. None whatsoever. Unless they are out to sell more vaccines.

The prevalence, Alter, the prevalence.

There have been a huge number of studies of prevalence. There was a huge study in Brazil. It showed what should have been herd immunity, and then a few months later there was another wave. They are tracking down what the problem is.

Why aren’t the naturally immune exempt from the mandates when *the science says* they have more robust immunity than the vax’d do?

Because natural immunity has been proven to fade quickly. That means that if you exempt them, very soon you will have people with no immunity.

Where has natural immunity been proven to fade quickly?

Link please.

Natural immunity is great, but the kicker for me, who has not had COViD and does not want it, it can result in severe illness, long term effects or death. It is why I chose the vaccine, and why Ill take the boosters. I don’t play Russian roulette.

ANTIBODIES fade by 5 months -NOT acquired immunity!

the plan was to not get a booster
( it's the same vaxx - not updated for delta) and then use a Regeneron site if I got any symptoms
Now Biden is hoarding the Regenron for "equity" from Florida
