What is Bush trying to say here?

You’re ok with leaving 9/11 out of it then.

I know this is an anonymous internet message board but nonetheless think of the folks who call for all Republicans to die, for example. What is that if not extremism? Bush's point is extremist thinking lead to 9/11 and similar extremist thinking will lead to next type event. If we really want to honor the 9/11 victims, that's making sure extremist attacks don't happen again in the future.

That's my take at least and why I don't take issue with what he's saying or find it disrespectful to the victims of 9/11.

The repubs throwing in with violent extremists is a huge problem. What they are trying to do to the American experiment does not differ much from what Al Queda wants. They want to rip it down and have a ruler who rules with power and violence. The right abhors pluralism. They want only their beliefs and policies to be heard.

GOP is a neo-fascist party. The danger to our democracy persists.

Bullshit.

If you want to say Trump was ‘part of the plan’ then prove it. Bullshit again, on the comparison between an unarmed perp being shot and killed by a cop *who hasn’t even been subject to an independent investigation* as being somehow the moral equivalent of Islamic radicals bringing the Twin Towers down on the heads of thousands of innocent Americans.

It’s a disgusting analogy.
It is. It's also accurate. You are a disgusting individual for supporting the terrorist attack on our nation.

trump plotted the attack. He advertised it on Twitter in December, saying 'it's going to be wild'.

Stop trying so hard to appear stupid.

no it will n ot "lead to the next event" It's not like hyper-partisanship is something new

9-11 was caused by foreign terrorists on jihad. if you want to conflate that to a riot ( and Im not claiming you are) then go ahead. But 9-11 was a paramilitary operation, not guys with fur and a Viking horn

That makes you an extremist lol.

Part of the problem here is ‘extremism’ is like ‘terrorism’. Its non-informative. One of the errors Bush made was in declaring war on ‘terrorism’—which is declaring war on a tactic. This led to a lot of unnecessary confusion. We were—and still are, at war with Islamic radicals or radical Islam. But since that ‘steps on the wrong toes’ we had the ‘war on terror’.

Violent extremists come in all stripes. Our urban areas are riddled with ‘violent extremists’. What keeps urban drug lords from being a kind of ‘extremist’? Nothing I can think of.
good.
we are at war with Salafi jihadi to be exact ( as is most of the west)

I thought it was pretty clear by now my issue is with the vapid attempts to draw a moral equivalence between 9-11 and ANY domestic extremism.

Bush made the point very well. He, as most real Americans, was disgusted by the actions of 1-6. The similarity to Al Qaeda was clear. They both threatened the UG govt. They both attacked at the heart of American symbols. The twin towers for one, the nation's capitol bldg for the other. The difference is bringing down the towers was not going to succeed in wrecking our system. 1-6 insurrectionists had that in mind. 1-6 was much worse.

Yes. The Jan. 6 attack are people still unpunished. Planning another attack.

So, is there a reason you thought Bush's comments were "stupid?"

1/6 was *worse* than 9/11?

Amazing. I can only hope none of the victims survivors are reading. Is 1/6 so important to you and the democrats that it must always be described in the most hyperbolic terms possible? Why don’t you say it was worse than the Holocaust while you’re at it?

Why stop at 9/11? Go ahead and add it on. You’re on a roll.

You clearly are sympathetic to killing cops.
