I'm amazed.

The republican fascination with Palin .. who is of such little stature and has no political future on the national stage .. and more importantly, confines republicans into a smaller box .. is just mindblowing to me.

Do you seriously believe America would elect Sarah Palin as president?

I hope if she does run, she'll wait until 2016. I've never seen anyone treated so brutally and viciously lied about as she was and still is.

Factcheck.org debunked the Kerry smears years ago and demonstrated how some of them lied to further their agenda. It's one thing to dislike Kerry's politics or even his personality, but to launch a smear campaign of swift boat magnitude really showed the depths to which rabid righties sunk in that campaign.

"A group funded by the biggest Republican campaign donor in Texas began running an attack ad Aug. 5 in which former Swift Boat veterans claim Kerry lied to get one of his two decorations for bravery and two of his three purple hearts.

But the veterans who accuse Kerry are contradicted by Kerry's former crewmen, and by Navy records.

One of the accusers says he was on another boat "a few yards" away during the incident which won Kerry the Bronze Star, but the former Army lieutenant whom Kerry plucked from the water that day backs Kerry's account. In an Aug. 10 opinion piece in the conservative Wall Street Journal, Rassmann (a Republican himself) wrote that the ad was "launched by people without decency" who are "lying" and "should hang their heads in shame."

And on Aug. 19, Navy records came to light also contradicting the accusers. One of the veterans who says Kerry wasn't under fire was himself awarded a Bronze Star for aiding others "in the face of enemy fire" during the same incident."

And your proof that Obama got everything handed to him via affirmative action? Even if his skin color helped him get in (and I'm not saying it did), the man is brilliant and his Magna Cum Laude proves it... as opposed to Palin, who took five years and four different schools (or five, depending on the source) to graduate with a journalism degree and no honors.

Let's see. Palin's Iraq experience consisted of a refueling stop at the Iraq-Kuwait border. Palin had no understanding of the "bush doctrine", and for those who claim there's more than one explanation of it, she couldn't give even one. Palin's knowledge of U.S.-Russia relations is reflected in this sound bite: "As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." When Palin was asked which news sources she relied on to get her info about the world, she couldn't name a single one and used the lame excuse "all of them". She couldn't name even one of "them"?

Even if Obama didn't have a boatload of foreign policy experience either, he has brains and intellectual curiosity, something Palin can't match.

Below is a direct quote from Palin. If she bowed out because of family obligations and concerns, that's a legitimate reason and I can't fault her for it. But if she said this and then goes on to run for president in a couple of years, how would that square with the family concerns? She's still going to have a family and a disabled child and they're all still going to be put under the microscope if she runs, because that's the sad truth about American politics, every bit of linen in the closet is going to be taken out and aired.

If she goes on to run in the future, this decision is going to come back and bite her, IMO.
