Evangelicals fume as GOP surrenders in gay marriage wars

You're trying to equate three different things that are not at all alike. Polygamy and incestuous marriage are still illegal in all 50 states, and have zero to do with SSM. BTW, you forgot to throw in bestiality.

What is the legal argument to keep them illegal? The ability of the legislature to define the parameters of legal marriage has been forever compromised.

When I started on this forum this was one of the most prominent and high-profile debate topics; liberals holding that same-sex marriage should be legal, conservatives largely claiming that it was immoral or would portend the doom of traditional marriages.

So which is it, fuck face? Evangelicals or all conservatives?

What's with all you pathetic cunts always saying it's Evangelicals who are so evil?

Back in those days the American people had a say in who could or couldn't get married. The courts took away our voices, and since then the drums began beating for government recognition of polygamy and incest.

What argument is there against them now? Immoral won't work. You said so yourself.

Good work 👍

Slippery slope fallacy.

Why should people have anything to say about other people's marriages and love lives. Yeah, I agree it is good that they have been given their rights to marry who they want a right of privacy to escape you bigots and haters.
Polygamy and incest are still against the law. You did not know that?

Blacks still havent got a hate crime bill like the aisans did...........but i guess most white americans have or know someone gay..........

this was inevitable

will those same whites advocate or support hate crime lesglislation for blacks??????????????

Pfft. There is no legal argument to prevent SSM. The anti-marriage stance is based on things like religion, bigotry, and illogic (the "slippery slope"). The exact same arguments against mixed marriages of white and black ppl were put forth, and shot down, decades ago.

I think all the polling indicates no one cares about it anymore outside of the bible thumpers.

These phony GOP culture war wedge issues always have a limited shelf life. We haven't heard about the dire threat of sharia law in a while, and after The next election cycle, we will probably be waving goodbye to critical race theory

True. They still have, on the other hand, their cherished forced-birth issues, and there's always immigration too. They'll find more when the luster's off those two.

To be fair, I don't think there's anything immoral about polygamy. It's between consenting adults. But I have no clue why any sane man would want to have more than one wife.

I am surprised Solomon and David didn't kill themselves.

:rofl2:

Polygamy, often called "polyamory" by fans, can consist of more than one husband too. I used to know two different sets of ppl in the pagan community who practiced this form of marriage. The wife could only be legally married to one of the men; the other just called himself "husband." I've never known any marriages with one man and more than one wife.

It's not for me but if it harms no one, what business is it of mine?

The harm caused by inherently unequal relationships as well as the genetic issues are the arguments.

Great. Only took the dipshits 6 years to give up a fight that is a stain on their reputation. Does that mean they'll stop sucking Trump's worm dick in 2026?

Hello Cypress,

When I started on this forum this was one of the most prominent and high-profile debate topics; liberals holding that same-sex marriage should be legal, conservatives largely claiming that it was immoral or would portend the doom of traditional marriages.

Credit to President Obama for forwarding this issue.

Shame on Republicans for wanting government to tell people how to live or who they can marry.

The only reason anybody is even talking about CRT is Fox News decided to make it an issue. They like to drum up hatred. They think racial hatred brings out Republican voters.

Hello Jarod,

Gay marriage has been legal for a long time now, shockingly my heterosexual marriage has not crumbled. People are still not allowed to marry dogs and cats. Western civilization as we know it has not collapsed. God has not struck us down.

All of the conservative predictions of doom and gloom have disappeared.

Funny, it’s the same with Obamacare, doctors are still practicing medicine, there are no death panels, it’s almost as if the conservatives are full of shit.

A death panel told me the other day that the idea of death panels taking over is dead.

Idiot.

More than 70% of states (and DC) already recognized same sex marriage before Obergefell. https://guides.ll.georgetown.edu/c.php?g=592919&p=4182205

When Obergefell was decided, 60% of Americans supported same sex marriage. Today 70% support it. If democracy worked and courts had shut you homophobes up earlier, same sex marriage would have been protected sooner. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_opinion_of_same-sex_marriage_in_the_United_States

So which court cases related to polygamy and incest are pending?
