Eviction moratorium ends

I liked flying in choppers, when I had the chance.

I really do not think 95% of people dream about how to make the most money. The 5 percent that do are probably in sales, marketing, finance, investment banking.

I think most people would like to do something that genuinely interests them and gives some meaning to their lives.

I am not going to begrudge anyone who chose bus driving, plumbing, or cat piss-kneeling as a profession. My choice was to pursue academic and career choices where I would mostly be using my mind.

What they like to do and what they end up doing are two different things. I've seen a few people who had liked the idea of flying, but found that it wasn't for them. Same for career military. Their choice.

OTOH, American culture is among the most capitalist in the world. Ours is a consumer culture where those who can't consume the most are losers. This is socially measured with status symbols, commonly the size and type of our cars and homes. This is demonstrated mainly by insults such as "You live in a trailer home...with your mother" or "What? You haven't bought a new car since 1986? Can't you afford one???"

It's ingrained into use since childhood. Freedom isn't free and not much else is. Unless it's on PBS, all kids shows are plastered with commercials, ingraining desire for new and shiny things.

Individuals vary, but their culture is part of who they are. Understanding their culture allows a better understanding of the individual. In America; getting money is the main driver of our politics; who has it, who wants and what others want to do with it.

I read heard about some recent research which suggested that what most people really want is a baseline of income sufficient to be comfortable (whether that is 100k or 200k annual, or whatever), but after that what they really want is some freedom to use their creativity, autonomy, and imagination at work. Just getting more money is not a top priority.

I consider myself fortunate to have grown up around an extended family which generally viewed excessive materialism and ostentatious consumption to be a sign of moral decay.

But of course they are ... dims ALWAYS stand firm in their convictions ... don't they ???

How many cans of bug repellant did they use ??? How many armed guards did they have ??? How many pizza's were delivered ??? Where are they sleeping tonight ???

Who, in US politics in the past 20 years has stood by their convictions? Regardless of party? Other than a one-term religious nutjob? Marjie Greene has flipped already...usually to the wackiest position available. She could have a good career on a cable show.

The Goofy Greene Show.

Sounds like a great idea. Do the economics support it?

Me too. A parallel stream distinct, but not far from, the mainstream. We moved once a year and that often resulted in changing schools once a year. A different perspective that wasn't the norm.

Getting a 75k Tesla is excessive materialism

By the way u dont "need" a computer of smart phone, so stop using them

The Goofy Greene Show.

Is there any doubt she'd have a cult following? The ex-president isn't the only one who is willing to fleece their sheeple.

She has a great opportunity to make a good bank.

Think Alex Jones. Think Springer. Think .... I forgot his name. I actually liked his show.

Than u work hard to attain that...I did

Forcing business to shut down kinda a puts huge roadblock on people trying to attain that

Shutting down a business does not hurt the Obamas or Bill Gates of the world just the people at the bottom

60% of the business forced to shut down will not be back!!!

Everybody has a choice.

The career I chose to pursue had almost nothing to money. I wanted to do something that I could really enjoy and flourish at.

That's a good choice too. Electrical work is actually challenging. You never get the same thing to do day to day, particularly if you do commercial and industrial work. Lots of problem solving on the fly. It's the guys that won't learn the math and study stuff like code and system design that end up in a rut of just being skilled assistants doing what they're told.

Everybody has a choice.

BINGO...Even the trash in the ghetto on welfare and the trailer trash in Tennessee on welfare!! They have made the wrong choice in life many times, and its not my responsibility or any tax payer to bail them out!

Correct. Compassion for the stupid and lazy shouldn't extend to anyone else having to pay for their mistakes.

This is tough. I see both sides.
We can't evict all these people who are victims of circumstance and covid hardship and lockdown induced unemployment, on the other hand we can't expect landlords
to pay their banks while collecting no rent. Real property must generate money. At some point they become squatters and not victims. I don't know that exact point.
It's probably when they could get a job and aren't doing it.

I dont know of any landlord that would rent to someone with no job or not enough income to pay! When they filled out the rent app it ask if u work and your income and the LL used that info in his decision to rent.

Now the LL can ask them to fill out a new app/lease, if they have no job not enough income etc than to bad..its not the LL fault! LL has property tax and payments to make. And has every right to get someone in that can pay rent ON TIME!

Does not matter IF they can get a job or not...on the app/lease if didn't ask or state pay only when u have a job
