It struck me that this Obamas chap honestly thinks he can bring about some sort of a middle-east peace by talking to people in the middle-east.

I liked the overall tone and the running theme of not threatening to bomb people at the drop of a hat.

Now let's hope we see this some of this stuff put into practice.
 
Darla, your irony is too thick, soon the local wingnuts will think peace is coming and Christianity is real, and other weird bizarre thoughts such as liberalism ain't so bad after all, and it would be nice if we treated the earth well, and everyone having a piece of the pie .... time to stop. I agree. I have been encouraged by reports that the Israelis are bitching up a storm, claiming that Obama is being hardlined on settlements in private. That's good. I hope it's true. It would be very fitting if Obama is the president who plays the US role in finally creating a Palestinian state.

But we will see. Palestinian statehood and a public option included in his health care plan are the two things that gets him my vote again. I can let a lot of other stuff slide. But I need to see action on these issues.

Yeah, i was very sceptical about the Whitehouse line, suggesting a rather less flexible position with the Israelis, until i saw that awful Netanyahu chap's body language at the post talks press conference.

It's about time a US President introduced the Israeli poodle to the taste of a rolled up newspaper in order to finally stop it shitting out settlements on the carpet like there was no tomorrow.

If more of your unknowing Muslim brothers were to become aware that they, too, were Muslims, i dread to think what may occur. You should probably disconnect yourself from the internets forthwith in order to avoid catching radicalised Islam from a dirty modem.

Thankfully we stopped using modems over here, except really old people who don't understand what Mb means. So I'm safe unless I move to Canada or some other third world nation like France or something.
