Most of the important advancements have come from engineering [automobiles, airplanes, light bulbs] and medicine [basically, applied biology] and little if anything to do with evolution, the age of the earth or etc.

The latter are actually more important in terms of philosophy and ideology.

If we want to fly to Mars, that’s an engineering problem. They don’t care how long Mars has been there.

As long as they pay their taxes, why should I give a fuck how many people are lined up in bed every night?

Agreed it's not "sciency", but why deny them the choice to call themselves whatever the fuck they want? I live out in a rural area. I really don't expect nor care if there's an LGBTQ parade down my street as long as they don't block traffic or step on my property without permission.
