I don't know what to do with all of this, I didn't even know this was out there so openly. It leads me to believe that the knuckledraggers as you call them, have been so pounded time after time for their anti-black statements that they know enough to whisper those, but the anti-immigration movement in this country has been so steeped in hate speak that they believe anti-Hispanic rhetoric is on the table. And of course, it's always open season on women in these minds. Certainly this has all proved that we do need diversity on the court.

What worries me is that the percentage of the party who are not these racist and incredibly stupid white trash, the ones like Superfreak, are going to eventually have to leave that party. They will just have to do it. And where are they going to go bac? Why, they're going to enter the Democratic party. That means more pandering to right of center views from the Democrats. I'm not thrilled and wish that the R party would just fold already and do the Whig thing, throw out their own trash, and let the sane ones start a new party.

You are correct to worry about republicans melting into psuedo-democrats, like Spector. Obama is at the head of this and has vowed to support melting republican psuedo democrats over real democrats and if real democrats aren't careful, they'll be the ones pushed out of the party or to the back of the bus.

Tell me you aren't floored by listening to the right-wing trying to use "racist." That shit is astounding. As if most Americans can't see the kettle is calling the pot black.

People with brains should just get out of their way and let these dumb-ass neanderthals drag themselves and all their foolish ideas into extinction.

We should encourage their dementia.

I'm ready to send a donation to their cause. :)

In my personal life? Absolutely! If however my job is to make judgments based on the rule of law my personal experiences should have no bearing. Emotive bias is not something a judge should be relying on or appealing to when making legal judgments. With regards to sentencing? I do believe that a judge can perhaps even should, have an emotive perspective. This however will not be the purview of a Supreme Court Justice.

If Alito didn't think it was advantageous to bring his ethnicity up during the hearings, why did he mention it at all if he didn't think, or want others to think, it would make him a better judge?

I just have to sit back and laugh at the same old tired attack dog tactics the neocons are trotting out against Sotomayor. Out of context quotes, railings against statements that can be found in similar quotes to their own heros Alito, Thomas and Scalia, and the usual convoluted logic used against ANYTHING Obama is connected to. They just don't know which end is up!

Sotomayor is basically a slight to left centrist. She's not exactly the favorite of the hard core liberal set either....which is probably why Obama picked her. But if the GOP is not careful, they will alienate some of that crucial hispanic vote in the up-coming elections. The confirmation process is going to be real interesting.
