Learn this lesson, Liberals.

And you lied about Maryland. It's true that the size of that income tax bracket has been reduced by 1/3, but that's not surprising given the current recession. It's not because millionaire's are "fleeing the state", but because they are getting hammered hard by the recession and are slipping out of the tax bracket. It would make little sense to go through all the trouble of moving just so that you could avoid a 1% income tax; you'd lose far more than you'd ever make out of the deal. No one that stupid could ever make it to that income level. And also, you've provided us with no data on the shrinkage of the millionaire class in other states to compare with. It's a poor study with poor backing based on substandard data. You'd be laughed out of any scientific process.

dude, did you even read any of the article? what they are doing is changing their state of residence to their other home (usually a southern state) in order to avoid income tax hikes, or avoid them altogether.

And what evidence do they have that this is the primary process that's happening? Nothing but their warped conservative beliefs. It's begging the question. The reduction could very well be from millionaires falling out of the brackets, the tax wasn't that much, and you haven't presented simialar data from other states for comparison.

"Mostly to southern states" is also a baseless invention by yourself and the writer of the article.

it's a silicon valley rag and you call it conservative? you're such a moron.

k, I LOLd.

but seriously, how does a state with a fleeing population, persuade more people to move in to its state? A state with a declining job market and ever increasing illegal immigrant population?

Isn't this something like placing a tax on smokes and placing the money into paying for schools. Then when people stop smoking and the tax money drops, they scamble and tax the crap out of something else; because they're gettin less money.

Can you show me any statistics that shows where this has unambiguously happened because of a cigarette tax and not just population trends in general?

Of course you can't. That's all, children. We'll have our next lesson tomorrow.

I charge $100.00 per hour to educate those that are unable to find things on their own.
Your lack of intelligance will require a 2 hour minimum, in advance.

The reasons for CA's problems are much more complex & deep-rooted than the simplistic portrayal you are giving them here.

Just for the sake of argument, however, let's accept your premise that this is endemic of "liberalism." I would counter that all ideologies have their failures & successes; it certainly isn't like conservatism is batting 1,000. I would also argue that conservatism's failures have been much more severe & caused much more pain, without a very notable record of counterbalancing benefits for humanity.

and as a Libertarian, I wholeheartedly agree with you. except for the more pain part. both sides are equal in that. so lets all go libertarian. it's best for the whole country. :clink:

The thing that's dangerous about Libertarians is that they believe they are 100% right and can't be wrong - just like their ideological mirror movement in the early 1900's, socialism.
