Media demand Israel explain destruction of news offices

NEW YORK -- News organizations demanded an explanation Saturday for an Israeli airstrike that targeted and destroyed a Gaza City building housing the offices of The Associated Press, broadcaster Al-Jazeera and other media outlets.

AP journalists and other tenants were safely evacuated from the 12-story al-Jalaa tower after the Israeli military warned of an imminent strike. Three heavy missiles hit the building within the hour, disrupting coverage of the ongoing conflict between' Gaza’s Hamas rulers and Israel. At least 145 people in Gaza and eight in Israel have been killed since the fighting erupted on Monday night.

Hamas surely counted on their proximity to the media's offices to shield them from attack, or at least to give them recourse in propagandizing the attack by having the media be their vociferous attack dog after such an attack.

and automatic enrollment of everyone ( no proof of citizenship needed) at 18 to vote

The White House said Saturday that it communicated its concerns to Israel over an airstrike launched in Gaza that destroyed a building that housed several news organizations, including The Associated Press.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki tweeted following the strike on the evacuated building that the safety of journalists is "paramount."

“We have communicated directly to the Israelis that ensuring the safety and security of journalists and independent media is a paramount responsibility,” Psaki wrote.
