White supremacy is top security threat, AG Garland says

Attorney General Merrick Garland told Congress on Wednesday that violence incited by white supremacists poses “the most dangerous threat to our democracy.” That assertion reflects near-universal consensus among national security experts, including those who worked for the Trump administration.

The threat of domestic terrorism receded in the public imagination after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, which were carried out by Islamic fundamentalists from Saudi Arabia and other nations. But as that threat has receded in recent years, militant white nationalism has returned as a top concern.

Could you indulge us with some examples of how white supremacists pose "the most dangerous threat to our democracy?" I should be easy to do given the severity of the threat you claim they are.

From the OP link:

"Republicans continue to insist that antifa and Black Lives Matter are as great a threat to national security as white supremacy, though research has shown that most of last summer’s Black Lives Matter-inspired protests were peaceful. While some violence and looting did occur, intense media coverage — in particular by conservative outlets like Fox News — may have provided a distorted image of those protests."

bingo.

Protests are peaceful until they turn into riots which morons like you and guano ignore there were billions in damages by blm and antifa dox=zens killed thousands hurt , stores looted and burned jobs and businesses destroyed.
these were not white supremacists doing it but black and white democrat thugs .

no 93 percent of protests never turned into riots well thats great , just look at the damage done by the 7 percent that did and all the deaths and injury's and looting and arson and billions in cost to America.

Following the murder of Floyd, unrest broke out in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area on May 26, and quickly spread across the country and the world. Within Minneapolis, widespread property destruction and looting occurred, including a police station being overrun by demonstrators and set on fire, causing the Minnesota National Guard to be activated and deployed on May 28. After a week of unrest, over $500 million in property damage was reported in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area, with two deaths linked to the riots.[11][12][13][14]

Further unrest quickly spread throughout the United States, sometimes including rioting, looting, and arson. By early June, at least 200 American cities had imposed curfews, while more than 30 states and Washington, D.C, had activated over 62,000 National Guard personnel in response to unrest.[15][16][17] By the end of June, at least 14,000 people had been arrested at protests.[18][19][20] Polls have estimated that between 15 million and 26 million people have participated at some point in the demonstrations in the United States, making them the largest protests in United States history.[21][22][23] It was also estimated that between May 26 and August 22, around 93% of protests were "peaceful and nondestructive".[24][25] According to several studies and analyses, protests have been overwhelmingly peaceful.[26][27][28][29] At some protests, counter-protesters or police instigated or escalated violence.[26][27][30] According to a September 2020 estimate, arson, vandalism and looting caused about $1–2 billion in insured damage between May 26 and June 8, making this initial phase of the George Floyd protests the civil disorder event with the highest recorded damage in United States history.[7][31]

Hello T. A. Gardner,

Could you indulge us with some examples of how white supremacists pose "the most dangerous threat to our democracy?" I should be easy to do given the severity of the threat you claim they are.

The Attorney General has made a statement.

It is not a claim. It is a fact. This is what our government is saying. Our government is in the practice of assessing real threats to the United States. That's their job. They spend a lot of time and money doing it. This is the result of intelligence work, not guessing, not opinion. Facts about the current situation.

This needs to be taken seriously. January 6th was a wake up call. People died. Our government was attacked. We were not properly prepared for the attack. The January 6th attack should be taken as fair warning. We need to be prepared so that we don't get surprised again. The last thing we want to do is think that was the end of it. We know it wasn't. We know government hatred and right wing extremism has been growing and becoming more militant, all thanks to Trump's encouragement. The proud boys are not standing back or standing by any more.

I would rather have teetotaling devout Muslims as my neighbors, than hillbilly rightwing extremists jacked up on crystal meth.

It's a claim. It relies on specific measuring of cherry picked indicators that in turn give the desired result. If you read the article Guno posted in post #3 in this thread carefully, that exact method was followed to get the results.

the AG is about to move on these traitors......word on the street is he's gonna concentrate on the major white supremacists and white nationalist militias first, round them up like they're rounding the 1/6 seditionists now

Hello T. A. Gardner,

I read the article. I scoped out the source. I stand by my position.

Call it whatever you like. They are stating it as their best understanding of the situation. We have no reason to doubt it. There are always those who simply refuse to believe anything from government or the resources government uses to evaluate situations.

If you think it is cherry-picked, do you also believe that left wing extremist attacks have outnumbered right wing extremist attacks?

I think the article is based on nonpartisan information gathering:

"The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a think tank based in Washington, D.C., in the United States.[5] CSIS was founded as the "Center for Strategic and International Studies" of Georgetown University in 1962. The center conducts policy studies and strategic analyses of political, economic and security issues throughout the world, with a specific focus on issues concerning international relations, trade, technology, finance, energy and geostrategy.[6]

In the University of Pennsylvania's 2019 Global Go To Think Tanks Report, CSIS is ranked the number one think tank in the United States across all fields, the "Top Defense and National Security Think Tank" in the world, and the 4th best think tank in the world overall.[7][8] CSIS has been named the number one think tank for Defense and National Security for the past seven years, and has been declared the 'Center of Excellence'.[8]

Since its founding, CSIS "has been dedicated to finding ways to sustain American prominence and prosperity as a force for good in the world", according to its website.[9] CSIS is officially a bipartisan think tank with scholars that represent varying points of view across the political spectrum. The think tank is known for inviting well-known foreign policy and public service officials from the U.S. Congress and the executive branch, including those affiliated with either the Democratic or the Republican Party as well as foreign officials of varying political backgrounds. It has been labeled a "centrist" think tank by U.S. News & World Report.[10] "

Now, if you would like to offer different data to support your claim that the information used to arrive at this conclusion is 'cherry-picked' please do so. I believe the information is accurate.

Top law enforcement officials say the biggest domestic terror threat comes from white

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas told senators on Wednesday that the greatest domestic threat facing the United States came from what they both called “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.”

“Specifically those who advocate for the superiority of the white race,” Mr. Garland told the Senate Appropriations Committee.

So called white supremacy is only a fallacy at not knowing what their DNA origins are of and being so ignorant at basically demonstrating being a worthless inferior liability on humanity.

White supremacy is top security threat, AG Garland says

What the fuck is wrong with you? Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?

“DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, THE BIGGEST OF ALL POLITICAL SCANDALS (IN HISTORY)!!! BIDEN, OBAMA AND CROOKED HILLARY LED THIS TREASONOUS PLOT!!! BIDEN SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO RUN - GOT CAUGHT!!!” Trump tweeted.

“Where are all of the arrests?” Trump said, after several dozen tweets on the subject over the past 24 hours. “Can you imagine if the roles were reversed? Long term sentences would have started two years ago. Shameful!”
