Yet you can't dispute what I said, just more calling me dumb after I've proved you wrong on that issue as well.I knew you'd come back with total and complete ignorance .. which is why I baited you with the question.

I understand the frustration with Obama on this issue, but I don't buy that he has "stroke of the pen authority" to change the status quo. DADT was passed by Congress. COngress has to undo it.
Obama should be pressing for that change to be made. But invoking his authority as commander-in-chief to bypass Congress on this in the face of a law passed by Congress is just a bit too Bush for me. It's isn't appropriate when it's done for stuff I hate and it isn't appropriate when its done for stuff I favor.
The very fact that you require proof of your ignorant thought defines you as dumb.
What "fancy hairdos?"
You are an ignorant little man who relys on cartoons and bumper stickers to define the world to you.
"Gays can't be depended on in any necessary role?"
ONLY a complete fool would even suggest anything as dumb as that.
Choi is a graduate of West Point?
Are you?
He's fluent in arabic.
Are you?
He's already served admirably in Iraq.
Did you?
Did you somehow miss this ...
He (Choi) served bravely under tough combat conditions in Iraq. His Arabic is excellent, and he used his language skills to defuse many tough situations and to save lives, both Iraqi and American. All of his unit mates know he is gay, and they have been very supportive of him.
You sir are DUMB.
What about the 99% of the rest, straight guys, many who don't want queers looking at their dicks? The first thing I would do military when elected would be to order them to integrate homosexuals who volunteer their service into the military. Stupid policy doesn't make for the best motivated soldiers.
Same stupid type of argument made for taking showers with black people. The military didn't want to integrate them either, it took an order to get it done and now they are one of the most color-blind sectors of society. What about the 99% of the rest, straight guys, many who don't want queers looking at their dicks?

As it stands now they get to look in secret, admiring your raisin and carrot combo, in fact they must look on in secret. It would be much easier to avoid showering with an openly gay person than one in hiding if you really think they'd be salivating over you.
It's just stupidity, even Israel can put gays into one of the best armies on the planet, but we have to be scared of them. Just stupid. "What if they were in a dirt hole with me?" Oh Noooees..
Who cares? Can they shoot? That's all I care about.
Perhaps he did know.As for him being such a bright individual didn't he know the consequences of his actions?
Not really, since I never heard of anyone choosing to be black. *shrug*Same stupid type of argument made for taking showers with black people. ....
Perhaps he did know.
Perhaps he knew his discharge would put the issue back on the front burner.
Or maybe he didn't want to face a second rotation to Iraq. While I have mixed feelings about such an action, if the military wants to play by stupid rules, it's their own fault when they lose decent soldiers to them.
....
Sure, if they're mature enough to keep it in the closet.
Not really, since I never heard of anyone choosing to be black. *shrug*
Obviously, those in the command structure, who obviously know better than you, disagree. They should not have to 'keep it in the closet'
That has always been my consistent position. I had a good friend that chose to be gay due to an issue with her mother, then after a few years and meeting the right guy, chose back.PLEASE tell me you didn't just suggest that people CHOOSE to be gay.
....

Four and five star generals don't know how to run the army better than you. Wow you think a lot of yourself.I understand there is a command structure.... and no, they do not know better than me. As was pointed out earlier... the same stupid shit was used to suggest that blacks 'couldn't fight' and that they shouldn't be put in mixed company because white guys wouldn't fight with them.... blah blah blah...
As for your choosing to be gay... again... your friend might have CHOSEN to experiment with other women, but she did not CHOOSE to be gay. But as I said, you most certainly CAN choose to change your pigmentation... in fact many people in preparation for summer are doing just that.
They didn't know "better" when they argued the same arguments you are now about gays.Four and five star generals don't know how to run the army better than you. Wow you think a lot of yourself.
Gay is a behavior, and if you behave gay then your gay. *shrug*
They didn't know "better" when they argued the same arguments you are now about gays.
Seriously, you'd rather them hiding looking and quietly longing than simply be able to avoid a shower with a homosexual? Just bizarre.
They are already serving, and if they are longing for you, they still already are. The only thing that would change is you would be able to know and avoid certain situations that made you uncomfortable. While other ones, like fear of being in a fox hole with one, well you'd get over it, just like the soldiers did with black folks so very long ago.
One thing that would change for them almost immediately is the capacity for them to be in the military and hold a security clearance without fear of losing it to "don't ask don't tell" idiocy. Civilians don't have that inane requisite, because they don't lose their job if they are simply honest about it. You create a class of people who are in your military (you'll never get rid of them, because they are often just as patriotic as you are and have something to prove this is why 'don't ask don't tell' came about to begin with, it acknowledged the fact that they already serve) who are very much corruptible for fear of being "outted"...
But mostly I would order it because people who use the "ick" factor to measure the worth of a soldier are pretty much worthless.
