America is losing its religion — and the effects will be long-lasting

This will make the extremist religious Reichwingers became even more energized to install their beliefs into our government.

But in the end, secularism will triumph and the world will be better for it.

Without religion mankind would generally be at war all the time in small wars of tribe against tribe or nations against nations.

Our morality stems from and relies upon groups of people being committed to doing the right thing in proscribed ways and along similar lines of altruism and charity and honesty and benevolence that is shared by every religion. Without some people in the society maintaining that fire consistently and constantly and new people coming along to tend the fire as those before them did, we all would suffer a cold darkness.

Think Lord of the Flies.

You may not recognize religion's importance in your own life, but think about the effect religion has on softening our mistakes.

With religion, I will wrestle with my Christian sense of morality before I screw my neighbor's wife. And I might not screw her at all because thou shall not covet they neighbor's wife.

Without religion, I would shag her and wreck his family and when he comes at me in anger I might shoot him.

Of course I posted a ridiculous example to lighten the post.

But where religion plays a part of the society, the police have less to do because so many crimes are prevented by the religious community framework (priests, counselors, pastors, brethren, sisters in Christ and etc.) would 'catch' these things when they were thoughts and before they became illegal deeds.

Remember John Adams said our Constitution was not meant for any but a moral and religious people.

We are still moral but the level of Christianity is sliding.

And I say that instead of making all religion banned, that we should work to return a sense of morality into our people. It would take a generation to achieve, I read. But it is better than having nutzo Dems trying to create a new Constitution to govern the dystopian Socialist Dictatorship.

Project Mayhem, anyone?

That’s the religion of scientism lol.

That’s the rub—man is inherently religious. Christianity will just get a replacement religion. I doubt seriously it will end well.

Wrong! The beauty of Science, is that it's not wedded to a particular viewpoint. Facts determine the direction of Thought. Religion ... means you are permanently locked into a mental viewpoint ... that can NEVER change.

Like ... you will always have to accept a Man-God as Your Savior.

Your Philosophy will always be to 'turn the other cheek' and 'forgive your Trespassers', even when 2 Buildings in NYC are brought down and 3,000 of your Brothers & Sisters are killed.
(unless you're just some bullshit, jive-ass Christian that refuses to accept Holy Scripture)

so the essence of the OP is that lib'ruls are evil people and that it will be a good thing when they take control of the country?......

Here, this is what some real stupid people do:

"The Thirty Years’ War was a 17th-century religious conflict fought primarily in central Europe. It remains one of the longest and most brutal wars in human history, with more than 8 million casualties resulting from military battles as well as from the famine and disease caused by the conflict. The war lasted from 1618 to 1648, starting as a battle among the Catholic and Protestant states that formed the Holy Roman Empire."

[FONT=&]New surveys show Americans' membership in communities of worship has declined sharply in recent years, with less than 50% of the country belonging to a church, synagogue or mosque.

[FONT=&]Why it matters: The accelerating trend towards a more secular America represents a fundamental change in the national character, one that will have major ramifications for politics and even social cohesion.

By the numbers: A Gallup poll released last week found just 47% of Americans reported belonging to a house of worship, down from 50% in 2018 and 70% as recently as 1999.

Churches should pay property tax. I don't want to pay for their church.

75% of AMERICANS BELIEVE IN GOD, EASILY OUTNUMBERING THE SELF-DECLARED, GLORIFIED MONKEYS.

"A 2013 poll by UPI/Harris showed that three-quarters of U.S. adults say they believe in God, down from 82 percent in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Just under 2-in-10 U.S. adults described themselves as very religious, with an additional 4-in-10 describing themselves as somewhat religious down from 49 percent in 2007."

As Jews we had rather and do better with secularist society then christian stains , history has bore this out
