Access to mental healthcare has been a major issue that Democrats have been pushing, but there is a lot of pushback. Even if we can get universal healthcare, which includes mental healthcare, many mentally sick people would not be willing to get help. Then we have to start working on trying to convince those in need to get help, which is another huge hurdle.

None of this is easy. It will take time, and a lot of effort. Unfortunately, even easy things are hard with an evenly divided Senate.

Agreed. Even under Obamacare the major problem is getting sick people willing to accept help. Example #1 is the chronically homeless.

Sure, closing the mental facilities by cutting funding didn't help, but the major hurdle is how to get people help who don't want it?

Agreed veteran suicide needs to be addresses but the Democrats don't give a shit about that either. Obama only wanted to take guns away from vets, not help them then give their guns back to them.
