Vice President Kamala Harris is facing criticism for appearing to break with precedent and failing to salute the honor guard when boarding Air Force Two.

Video reviewed by Fox News showed that her predecessors, former Vice President Mike Pence and President Biden, regularly saluted the honor guard in the same situation.

Of course it's not required but it's a tradition, to snub the honor guard like this is a pretty shitty statement to make.

yeah, ronald reagan, AS PRESIDENT...started it, the guy who dodged combat in WORLD WAR 2!!!!! you right wingers have such gutless heroes. I can see why the president, as commander in chief, might believe he should salute, but not the VP. here is a video of VP Cheney not saluting as he got off the plane-

she's trash because of her zealousness for false imprisonment and prison labor. and whorishness.

she's a fascist whore.

And Vice President of the United States of America, let’s say it again, Vice President of the United States of America, how do you like them apples

Biden received deferments!

"The tradition" of "saluting" by a president or vice-president when entering Air Force One or Two...

...was started by Reagan...apparently so he could look military. It is, however, almost silly...and certainly outside of the saluting protocols of ALL branches of the US military.

Those of us who actually were in the military understand that saluting is something done only by active military personnel when in uniform...and, for the most part, only while covered. (Wearing a military cap.)

When I drive into the parking lot of the local VA Hospital...the attendant almost comes to attention and salutes. He does it as a gesture of respect for vets...and I render a return salute, but I understand it should not be returned.

Since the American right is mentally challenged, though, and bankrupt of ideas, I understand them making a big thing about this.

WRONG. DONE BY EVERY POTUS SINCE WW2...

WRONG. DONE BY EVERY POTUS SINCE WW2...

BULLSHIT!

Even Dwight Eisenhower NEVER saluted military personnel who attended him. There is a single picture of Ike saluting a Medal of Honor winner, but that's it.

On a personal note, I asked a MoH winner to whom I was introduced (by a general) if he would allow me to salute him. He allowed it, but only after he mentioned that I was saluting the medal...not him. Neither of us were in uniform. Just about every military person would consider it an honor to salute a MoH winner.

Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford did not salute attending military personnel. It only became a thing because of Reagan. And to be honest with you, it is nonsense. It should be stopped. Military saluting should be a prerogative of military people.

You dodged combat too, who you trying to fool?

Buden received a couple of deferments due to college. That was the norm back then. Then he got one for asthma, he was 1Y for that. He has them. https://allergylosangeles.com/allergy-blog/joe-bidens-allergies/ Trump had a doctor fake an injury report to get out of a war he backed. It's not the same.

Norm if you were a rich white guy with connections.

when you keep switching reasons, said reasons were probably bullshit, he dodged the draft.

Impressive, so what did you do again? what was your AFSC?

well, the air force was particular. some doc said he thought he heard a heart murmur and counted me out. which was not the end of the world because we should not have been in vietnam in the first place. but i did get my draft notice, showed up, got looked over and then talked to a guy who went over the results and I asked did anybody mention a heart murmur, because of the AF doctor about 5 months earlier. he said, no, let me listen and he did, wrote something down, and i went home. about a week or so later i was mailed a classification of IY- only in an emergency were they to unleash my bad assiness, or something like that. or maybe it was in case of war, i was a designated hostage.

1-Y – Registrant qualified for service only in time of war or national emergency.

Right, so you never served. you tried to infer you did, but you didn't kudos for trying though, never been. You tried to suggest you saw combat, but a lot of people tried to avoid combat during vietnam by going USAF. You dodged combat, in more ways than one.
